The Texas Gateway: A Primary Access Point
The Texas Gateway serves as the primary access point for discovering and using TEA-approved instructional resources and PD courses. Openly accessible to Texas teachers, parents, and students, the Gateway allows searching and using content without login credentials. This guide introduces the features and functionality available through the Texas Gateway.
Signing Up for a Texas Gateway Account
To begin using the Texas Gateway, you can sign up for an account by clicking "Sign up" in the upper right corner of the Gateway homepage.
Browsing and Searching for Content
The Gateway offers several options for browsing and searching for content. Simply scroll through the resource to view all of the content sections. When you enter a binder, you will see a description, a list of the aligned standards, and an overview of all of the resources within the binder. Press the Start button to begin working through the sequence.

Enrolling in Courses
To enroll in a course, click on the link provided to go to the course registration page (if it is under Featured Courses, you’ll click the Enroll now button). Click the Enroll in [Course ID] button below the course title and follow the steps to create your Gateway Courses account. Once you have created and activated your Gateway Courses account, you can begin taking your course.
Personalizing Your Gateway Experience
Having a Texas Gateway account allows you to personalize and organize the content you discover in your dashboard. To view your dashboard, go to Dashboard in the upper right corner of the site.
Saving Resources to Your Favorites
To save a resource to your favorites, click Add to list in the upper right corner of the resource page (you must scroll to the very beginning of the resource to access this). Select My Favorites in the popup. The star will turn yellow to indicate that it has been added.
Adding Resources to Lists
To add a resource to a list you’ve created in your dashboard, click Add to list in the upper right corner of the resource page (you must scroll to the very beginning of the resource to access this). Select the list in the popup and the dot next to the list will turn yellow to indicate that the resource has been added.
To add a resource to a list you have not yet created, click Add to list and select New list. Type a name for the list and click on the Create List button.

Grading Student Work
There are multiple options for how to grade your student’s work for their Carolina Gateway Labs. This gives you the flexibility to grade however works best for your course.
Important Considerations for Students
It's crucial to understand how student work and progress are saved within the Gateway system. Student work and progress is not saved in Gateway afterthe student goes through the process to SUBMIT in Gateway or the assignment has been closed by the instructor. The lab has been submitted by the student or closed for grading by Instructor. A yellow pop up will appear when opening the resource notifying the student that it is in a “read-only” state. You can access the lab manual answer keys by navigating to the Carolina Science Online/Gateway Dashboard HOME.
Integrating Gateway with D2L
All Gateway Activities will be added to your D2L course using the Existing Activities Menu; this is available after Gateway is integrated by your LMS administrator. Navigate to the “Existing Activities” menu.
