With the permission of the Undergraduate and Graduate Advisors, up to four approved graduate courses (up to 12 credits) may be taken in place of the regular undergraduate courses in the last two semesters of the BS in Nutrition and Dietetics program. Dietetic Internship
The Dietetic Internship at Queens College, under the guidance of Advisor Allison Charny, MS, RDN, CDN, CDCES, provides the necessary practice preparation for entry into the field of dietetics as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
The program provides a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised training (approximately 9 months full-time) under the guidance of experienced Registered Dietitians. Dietetic interns complete rotations in community, clinical, and food service management settings, building the skills and confidence needed to begin professional practice in a variety of healthcare organizations.
Eligibility and Requirements
To be eligible to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians, candidates must complete a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), a Master's degree, and a Dietetic Internship (DI). Applicants to the Dietetic Internship must have already completed a DPD and hold a Master’s degree; alternatively, a combined Master’s and Internship program is available for those who have completed the DPD.

Students who complete the Dietetic Internship earn six graduate credits toward the MS in Nutrition Specialization. In addition, Queens College students enrolled in the BS in Nutrition and Dietetics program may be eligible for preselection into the Dietetic Internship.
