The George Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Residency: Applicants must be residents of Fort Bend County, Texas. Any potential recipient that can’t be verified as a Fort Bend County, Texas resident (per the permanent home address) during The George Foundation verification process and through proof of residency to Scholarship America will become a non-recipient, and an alternate will be selected by Scholarship America. Scholarship recipients are required to provide proof of Fort Bend County residency.
  2. Enrollment: Students must be planning to attend a public two-year or four-year college, university, or technical school in Texas. If necessary, two Supplemental Financial Data forms may be submitted: The first parent/guardian may submit their information within the online application in the “Financial Information” section. Selection Committee

The George Snow Scholarship Fund has an outstanding group of community volunteers who sit on the Selection Committee to review all applications. The Scholarship Selection Committee is comprised of professionals; including educators, businessmen and women, and individuals who are considered experts in certain areas. Most committee members have served many years and have a great deal of experience in our process. All share a passion for helping others.

Each selection committee member is assigned a certain amount of applications which are reviewed and ranked in the appropriate areas. The rankings are then submitted to our office, where they are entered into a program that compiles all the rankings and allows us to ensure that every applicant is being equally assessed. For the interview, the selection committee is divided into teams of four.

Financial Need Analysis

During this process, a separate team gathers necessary information such as high school transcripts, student aid reports, and family tax returns that are used to substantiate information provided on the candidates application.
