Middle Georgia State University (MGA) provides a range of summer sessions designed to accommodate various schedules and academic needs. MGA offers three short terms to fit into your busy summer schedule. MGA provides housing for 1,850 students on our Cochran, Eastman, and Macon campuses. MGA offers affordable tuition rates, flexible online classes, and we have many course options available that may transfer back to your home institution.

Full term: Classes begin May 13 and end on July 11, with finals on July 12 & 15.

Georgia Southern University Summer Sessions

Georgia Southern University also offers comprehensive summer sessions for current, former, and visiting students. If you were a student at Georgia Southern and decided to take a break from classes, summer is the perfect time to begin your coursework again! Getting started is easy! If you have been out of school for three semesters or more, complete the Application for Admission as a former student.

Orientation and Registration at Georgia Southern

SOAR is Georgia Southern’s new student orientation. Considering living on-campus? Once open, this will be located under “Folio” in your MyGeorgiaSouthern student portal. Your home institution should issue you a transient permission form that says which classes you can take and certifies that you are in academic good standing. Look up your Registration Access Number (RAN) in the Registration Information section. New students will be given a RAN during SOAR, and current students will obtain a RAN during advisement. Your Eagle ID number allows you to register for classes, pay your tuition and fees, view your schedule and grades and request transcripts. Log into MyGeorgiaSouthern, and click on WINGS.

Financial Aid Options at Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern University provides various financial aid options for students attending summer sessions. These grants are based on remaining eligibility for undergraduate students.

Federal Stafford Loans: Students who did not borrow the annual federal loan amounts may have remaining loan eligibility for summer semester.
Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS): Parents may apply for the PLUS to help their dependent undergraduate students who have received their maximum loan amounts or do not have remaining Stafford Loan eligibility.
Graduate PLUS: Graduate students who have received their maximum amount in loans or need additional funds can apply for the federal direct graduate/professional plus loan.
Private Loan: If eligible, the Financial Aid office will certify a private loan; however, we do not make lender recommendations to students. Students who did not qualify as an incoming freshman can be checked for HOPE eligibility at 30, 60 and 90 attempted hours.

Newly admitted students should contact the Office of Admissions if you are unsure of your eligibility. Yes. If you do not attend the first day of class, you will be dropped from the course.
