Recognizing that financial constraints can be a significant barrier to higher education and specialized training, Girls Inc. offers a variety of scholarships tailored to different needs and aspirations. Girls Inc. Scholars Program

The purpose of the Scholars Program is to make post-secondary education more accessible by offsetting the financial costs. Awards are held in escrow until scholars begin postsecondary education. Participation requirements must be completed at the time of application.

Local and Regional Scholarships

Several Girls Inc. affiliates offer scholarships specific to their service areas. These scholarships often recognize girls who embody the Girls Inc. mission and have demonstrated leadership and commitment to their communities.

Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta Scholarships

Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta knows paying for college can be challenging. Presented each year at the Strong Smart Bold Awards event, these scholarships are awarded to three girls that embody the spirit of our mission by inspiring their peers and community to be strong, smart, and bold.

Girls Inc. of Metro Denver Scholarships

Girls Inc. of Metro Denver programs offer post-secondary scholarships starting in 8th grade. Girls Inc. of Metro Denver’s scholarship program has awarded over $1,000,000 in scholarships to support girls’ post-secondary education. Girls Inc. of the Berkshires Eureka! Program

of the Berkshires Eureka! program is an initiative that addresses the skills and knowledge gap that has persisted for girls specifically in STEM-related subjects. This program works with girls, many who will be first generation college applicants, to explore and excel in STEM-related subjects over the course of their participation in the five-year Eureka! program.

William G. Scholarship

The William G. scholarship supports study in any field in which she/he has a developing talent or ability. This can be an academic pursuit (college, trade school, graduate school), an athletic skill (such as gymnastics camp) or an artistic or technical interest (such as computer training or music lessons). Teri Bordenave Scholarship

The Board of Directors established this scholarship to honor long-time President and CEO, Teri Bordenave, who recognized the need for ongoing financial support for young women in college. Unlike traditional scholarships, which often only cover first-year expenses, this scholarship was specifically created to assist with the financial challenges that arise in the second and subsequent years of college-an often-overlooked period that can prevent many young women from completing their education.

Dorothea E. Scholarship

This scholarship was made possible through a bequest from Dorothea E. This scholarship supports the pursuit of a course of study, special learning experience, or training program that enhances individual talents and contributes to the betterment of the community and country. Anna C. Hume Scholarship

This scholarship was established through a bequest from long-time supporter Anna C. Hume and additional contributions from the Hume family, is designed to supplement traditional financial aid sources. Apply to the Anna C.

Scholarship for Moms

This is an annual award that goes to one deserving mom in pursuit of career aspirations. The opportunity is open to applicants of all ages, backgrounds, and academic disciplines. Applicants must be in pursuit of a licensure/certificate, training, course, or academic degree that will shift or advance their career or position.

Girls Inc. Programs

College Bound: Grad Lab Readiness Program

College Bound was created for girls who know where they want to go but are not sure how to get there. The program provides the roadmap for girls to graduate high school on time and be ready for higher education. Girls will learn about how to structure their classes, time management, scholarships, financial aid options, admissions testing, creating personal statements, and how to choose a college. staff and mentors to create a plan specific to them.

College and Post-Secondary Support

Girls Inc. provides college exploration and preparation that gives students the tools to choose the right post-secondary option for them. We provide ongoing financial, practical, educational, and social-emotional support as students navigate their post-secondary journey. We provide individualized coaching and support for high school students as they explore and apply for college or post-secondary options, scholarships, and financial aid. Every student is different and defines their own goals and plans as they prepare for what’s next. In addition to individualized coaching, we provide workshops about college and post-secondary options, the college experience, standardized testing, scholarships and financial aid, the college application process, and the college decision-making process. We promote exposure and exploration through multiple in-state and out-of-state college tours each year. For students attending college and technical school, we provide summer bridge programming to prepare for the practical, financial, and educational transitions. Our network of existing college students shares their experiences with incoming college students through participation in college visits, summer bridge programming, and informal peer conversations about experiences at their colleges. College-bound students are also celebrated and financially supported through our annual “College Shower” event where we gift college students with essentials for their college journey.

College Womxn’s Group

college students, and new students interested in connecting with other college students from similar experiences and backgrounds, our monthly College Womxn’s Group is a place to connect, network, learn and get information and support. This group is member-driven and the schedule and focus is set each year by participants, but is typically offered virtually to allow out-of-town or out-of-state students to join, with some in-person events during winter and summer breaks. Fun and social events, as well as guest speakers, panel discussions, and workshops, are a part of this group.

School-Year Programs for Middle School and High School

All STARS Program: Join a girls-only space designed to spark confidence, leadership, and new friendships! Through daily homework help, hands-on technology activities, and exciting field trips, participants strengthen academic skills, explore new interests, and build resilience.

WE LEAD Program: WE LEAD is a leadership curriculum for middle and high school participants that offers a balance of strength-building activities and in-depth discussions on important topics like leadership styles and allyship. Participants learn to embrace their leadership superpowers and reject limiting preconceived notions of what girls can do. The curriculum will also include field trip offerings and health and wellness education.

ACT Program: In ACT (Achieve Change Together), girls and their allies learn about the social systems we live in and how to be a part of the change moving forward.

HEART Program: HEART (Helping Everyone Achieve Respect Together) provides an opportunity for girls and their allies to build health, literacy,and decision-making skills related to their bodies, relationships, and overall well-being, supporting their lifelong physical and emotional health.
