Academic Success Center (ASC)

The Academic Success Center (ASC) promotes and fosters student learning and development by providing free tutoring to all Goodwin University students. Need a little extra help? No problem. The Academic Success Center provides free tutoring, testing, and workshops to all Goodwin students. The Academic Success Center is a great resource for students. At Goodwin, we’re all about convenience. That’s why we offer on-campus and online tutoring, so you can get the help you need in whichever way works best for you.

  • Tutoring Services: The ASC offers free tutoring to all Goodwin University students. Tutoring is available both on-campus and online, providing flexibility and convenience.
  • Writing Assistance: The writing department provides support for students who need help with their writing assignments. "Current students should take full advantage of the writing department. I loved how flexible they were. It seemed as if someone was always available to help me. They were very good at their job! When I needed help editing my term writing assignments, I would take my paper there to be reviewed by the staff.
  • Workshops and Testing: In addition to tutoring, the ASC also offers workshops and testing services to help students improve their academic skills.

  • Degree Audit: A degree audit is a comprehensive review of the courses you’ve taken throughout your plan of study as well as any courses you may have transferred into Goodwin University.

Registration Information

  • Online Registration: Registration is completed using our online student information system, Ellucian Self-Service.
  • Registration Timing: Registration for current students occurs in November, March and July during week ten of every semester.
  • myNavigator PIN: Your myNavigator PIN/password was created when you initially enrolled in class here at Goodwin University.

Course Management

Goodwin University utilizes online platforms to facilitate coursework and communication.

Dropping vs. Withdrawing from a Course

Understanding the implications of dropping and withdrawing from a course is important for students to make informed decisions about their academic schedule.

  • Dropping a Course: Dropped courses will not appear on your transcript nor will they count as credit hours attempted. You will be refunded 50% of the course tuition if you drop a course.
  • Withdrawing from a Course: Withdrawal from a course results in a “W” on your transcript and credit hours attempted without any effect on GPA. You will be charged 100% tuition for a course you withdraw from. Be sure to consult the current semester’s academic calendar for drop and withdrawal deadlines.

Financial Support

Financial Aid Officers are eager to create a personalized financial aid package that fits your needs. “Transferring into Goodwin from a different school on a bit of short notice, they made what was a difficult and stressful financial maze easier to navigate. Our dedicated Financial Aid Advisors will work with you to create a financial aid package that works for you - and your budget. During your Admissions visits, a Financial Aid Advisor will be readily available to discuss your options and to help you get the aid you need.

Diaper Program

Goodwin University offers a Diaper Program designed to help students with young children defray some of their household costs by offering free diapers to those who qualify. Students who are eligible can receive two packs of diapers, per child, per month, as long as they are enrolled at Goodwin University. Students who are eligible will receive notification of eligibility after census day.

Counseling and Wellness Center

Goodwin’s Counseling and Wellness Center provides mental health services, crisis intervention, individual, family, and group counseling are offered at One Riverside Drive to address the needs of our students and support our growing community. Need someone to talk to? Counseling/therapy is available. Counseling/therapy is a process in which you enter into a relationship with a trained professional in order to gain a deeper self-understanding and to identify more effective ways of responding to life’s challenges. If you find yourself in need of counseling for any reason, our campus counselors are here to provide emotional support, referrals, case management and follow-up.   • Safe Connect: Safe Connect is Connecticut’s domestic violence information and resource line, providing a coordinated response to the needs of survivors.
  • East Hartford Police Department: The East Hartford Police Department is dedicated to serving the community through the protection of life and property and the prevention of crime.
  • Interval House: Interval House offers on-site counselors and advocates available to help victims of domestic violence 24 hours a day.
  • Planned Parenthood: Planned Parenthood is one of the nation’s leading providers of high quality, affordable health care, and the nation’s largest provider of sex education.
  • YWCA New Britain’s Sexual Assault Crisis Service (SACS): YWCA New Britain’s Sexual Assault Crisis Service (SACS) is a program of the Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence and covers a 46-town region, including all of Hartford County, part of Tolland County and the town of Plymouth.
  • Loveisrespect: Loveisrespect is a project of the National Domestic Violence Hotline. By combining their resources and capacity, they are reaching more people, building more healthy relationships and saving more lives.
  • The National Domestic Violence Hotline: The National Domestic Violence Hotline operates around the clock, seven days a week, is confidential and free of cost, and provides lifesaving tools and immediate support to enable victims to find safety and live lives free of abuse. The Hotline is part of the largest nationwide network of programs and expert resources and regularly shares insight about domestic violence with government officials, law enforcement agencies, media, and the general public.
  • National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV): Today, through its many key initiatives such as VAWnet, Women of Color Network, the Domestic Violence Awareness Project, and Building Comprehensive Solutions to Domestic Violence, NRCDV works tirelessly to improve community response to domestic violence and, ultimately, prevent its occurrence.
  • The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC): The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) opened in July 2000 as a national information and resource hub relating to all aspects of sexual violence. Founded by the Pennsylvania Coalition against Rape, the oldest and one of the largest state sexual assault coalitions, the NSVRC is funded through a cooperative agreement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Violence Prevention.
