Ensure that you're meeting any applicable prerequisites before applying. All transfer students are expected to have completed 24 semester credits prior to transferring. The most competitive applicants generally have at least 32 college semester credits by the time they enroll at NYU. Please note that students will need to complete the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) to report college courses taken. - Research Programs: Some colleges/schools within the university are more competitive than others. For example, the Stern School of Business only takes transfers in the fall semester and gives preference to current students seeking internal transfers. On the other end of the spectrum, The Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development takes in hundreds of external transfers each year.

The NYU transfer application deadline for fall applicants is March 15. The transfer deadline for spring applicants is October 15. However, not all programs allow spring transfers.
