Investing in Your Child's Future: Understanding Tuition and Affordability at Grace Community School
Choosing the right school for your child is a pivotal decision. Grace Community School (GCS) strives to partner with families in providing a distinctly Christian education, strong academics, and a vibrant student experience. This article explores the various aspects of tuition and affordability at Grace Community School, including variable tuition, financial aid, and payment options.
A Foundation of Academic and Spiritual Excellence
Grace Community School holds joint accreditation from ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and AdvancED and is certified by CESA (Council on Educational Standards and Accountability). Both Grace Community Elementary School, a 2017 recipient, and Grace Community High School, a 2015 recipient, have earned the National Blue Ribbon School designation from the United States Department of Education for academic excellence and high student achievement. GCS aims to maintain student to teacher ratios that foster strong academic success and individualized attention. The school encourages students to love the Lord and glorify Him in all they do, whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, through the arts, or in service and mission opportunities. GCS has made an intentional effort to grow in diversity, as reflected in steadily increasing enrollment percentages over the past five years.
The Value of a Grace School Education
The choice of where to invest in a child’s future is one of the most critical decisions a family can make. At Grace School, this investment extends far beyond tuition fees; it sets the stage for a profound impact on a student’s character, integrity, and sense of purpose. By choosing Grace School, families are intentionally investing in an educational experience that prioritizes individualized attention, fostering a sense of belonging, and cultivating a community where every student is known, valued, and supported. The personalized approach allows students to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially, laying the foundation for a lifetime of success. Grace School teachers tailor instruction to meet the unique learning styles and interests of each student, leading to deeper comprehension, enhanced critical thinking skills, and a genuine love for learning. Beyond the classroom, Grace School offers a wealth of extracurricular opportunities that foster creativity, leadership, and teamwork, providing students with a diverse set of skills that are invaluable in today’s world. A Grace School education equips students with the tools to think critically, act ethically, and effect positive change in the world.
Understanding Tuition and Fees
The annual tuition at Grace School is $26,850. In addition to tuition, there are other fees to consider:
- Application Fee: $150 (non-refundable, non-transferable) - due with the Application for Admission.
- Tuition Deposit: $1,000 (non-refundable, non-transferable) - due with the Enrollment Contract and applied to the total tuition.
- Building Use Fee: $1,100 (one-time, non-refundable, non-transferable) - charged to each family upon entering Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.
- Supply/Activity Fees:
- Primary School: $225 (non-refundable, non-transferable) - due with the tuition deposit.
- Lower School: $225 (non-refundable, non-transferable) - due with the tuition deposit.
- Middle School: $450 (non-refundable, non-transferable) - due with the tuition deposit. This fee covers all necessary school supplies and helps offset the cost of athletics, science lab, and some special events.
Payment Plan Options
Grace School offers several payment plan options to accommodate different family needs:

- Single Payment Plan - 0% finance charge
- Two-Installment Payment Plan - 2% finance charge
- Nine-Installment Payment Plan - 5% finance charge
Payments are made monthly. Attendance any time in the month is charged for a full month’s tuition.
Variable Tuition: Making Christian Education Accessible
Many parents assume that high-quality, Christian schools are out of their budget. Grace Community School addresses this concern by offering Variable Tuition, which adjusts the annual tuition rate to meet a family’s unique financial situation. Tuition is not one-size-fits-all; it’s a range that spans between 45 and 85 percent of the total cost.
If a family is concerned about their ability to afford the highest tuition rate at Grace, they are welcome to apply for Variable Tuition. Applying for Variable Tuition will not affect a child’s admissibility.
How Variable Tuition Works
- Application to FACTS: Applications are submitted directly to FACTS, a third-party agency specializing in evaluating financial information for schools. The cost to apply for Variable Tuition through FACTS Grant and Aid is $40 per family.
- FACTS Evaluation: FACTS evaluates the application and makes a recommendation to Grace Community School’s Variable Tuition team.
- Confidentiality: A family’s personal financial information will be kept private and is never viewed by Grace employees. FACTS simply recommends a tuition pricing formula to the school.
- First-Come, First-Served Basis: Variable Tuition is available to any deserving student on a first-come, first-served basis, governed by the resources the school has available to supplement Variable Tuition pricing.
A wide range of families with various circumstances qualify for the program, from those who can pay close to the full tuition rate to those who are at the entry-level of the variable tuition range. However, every family is required to make a financial investment in their child’s education. The school does not have unlimited funds and cannot offer Variable Tuition to every student who qualifies for both admission and Variable Tuition. A student may be admitted to the school but placed on a waiting list for Variable Tuition.
Additional Financial Aid Opportunities
Tuition Assistance
Grace School seeks to provide need-based tuition assistance to qualified students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Although responsibility for payment of tuition rests with the parents, need-based tuition assistance enables Grace School to partner with families who may not otherwise be able to afford the full cost of tuition.

Texas Freedom Accounts (TFA)
Families in Texas may be eligible to use Texas Freedom Accounts (TFA) to help cover the cost of private school tuition. Texas Freedom Accounts are part of a state education freedom initiative that provides funding to families for educational expenses, including tuition at qualifying private schools like Grace Community School.
The Admissions Process
Grace Community School accepts applications on a rolling basis, meaning you can apply at any point during the year.
Steps in the Admissions Process
- Campus Visit: When choosing a new school, nothing provides better insight than a campus visit. If applying for Early Education, a tour is a required part of the admissions process.
- Online Application: Submit your application online.
- Review and Decision: After a review of your child’s file and family conference, the school will contact you with an admissions decision and help you complete your enrollment.
- Early Education Admissions: If you have a little one between the ages of eight weeks and four years, the admissions process looks a little different. Once you decide Grace is the right childcare center for your child, you can add your name to the waitlist and pay the $25 fee.
Student Shadow Days
While not a required part of the admissions process, Grace Community School offers Student Shadow Days, which allows your child to be a guest for a day. Prospective students are paired with an enrolled student at their same grade level with similar interests. If your child has a friend at Grace, they can request to shadow them. Students may shadow at any age, but it is an especially valuable opportunity for those entering middle or high school.

Childcare pricing is often confusing because no two family situations are the same, nor are providers’ pricing scales. In general, younger children cost more because more caregivers are needed, and more one-on-one care is required. The price goes down as children get older.
Factors Affecting Daycare Prices
- How many children you want to enroll
- How old the children are
- Whether you need full or part-time care
- Location and availability
- Introductory specials
- Whether or not you qualify for childcare assistance
- The parent(s) income level
Daycare Inclusions
Here’s what you’ll get with daycare at Grace Community School:
- Phonics reading program
- Advanced math program
- The College Can Begin at Age 2 curriculum
- Options for special classes including Karate Class, Dance Class, Art Class, and Music Class
- Before and after school care for elementary students

The following are FREE at Grace Community School:

Withdrawal Policy
The withdrawal deadline is July 31. Any withdrawals after July 31 will incur a withdrawal fee of 10% of the remaining tuition contract. If a student withdraws after the start of school, tuition is charged on a monthly basis. A 10% withdrawal fee of the remaining contract will be due. Requests for the transfer of student transcripts or records during the academic term will be processed only when a student’s account with Grace Christian School is current.
