Greenwood adult education programs offer a variety of opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds to achieve their educational goals. With free classes, flexible schedules, and dedicated instructors, these programs provide a supportive environment for students to succeed.

Free Classes and Year-Round Availability

Greenwood adult education programs offer classes free of charge, making education accessible to everyone in the community. Classes are available year-round, allowing students to begin their studies at any time and progress at their own pace.

Flexible Schedules and Convenient Locations

Recognizing the diverse needs of adult learners, Greenwood adult education programs offer a range of scheduling options. All four class sites have two separate class times, Monday through Thursday from 8:15 AM to 12:00 PM. For those unable to attend daytime classes due to work or other commitments, a night class is also available.

If the existing schedules don't meet your needs, you can discuss the possibility of an online option with your instructor. This flexibility ensures that students can balance their education with their work and family responsibilities.

Curriculum and Programs

Greenwood adult education programs offer a comprehensive curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of adult learners. These programs include:

High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation: This program prepares students to take the High School Equivalency test. The teachers will work with all students for as long as it takes to reach their goals.
Work-Ready Skills Development: These courses focus on developing essential skills for the workplace, such as how to find and keep a job.
Financial Literacy: These classes provide instruction on dealing with debt and creditors.

Earning Your High School Diploma

One of the most common questions prospective students have is, "How long will it take to get my diploma?" The answer varies depending on the individual's educational background. However, the teachers are committed to working with each student for as long as it takes to achieve their goals.

GED Testing

It's important to note that you do not have to attend classes to take the GED test.

Central Nine Career Center: A Partner in Education

In addition to the Greenwood adult education programs, Central Nine Career Center offers hands-on programs for high school students to build real-world skills and explore future careers. Since 1972, Central Nine has been helping students get a head start on college or the workforce.

Hands-On Programs for High School Students

Central Nine offers 26 hands-on programs for high school students, ranging from healthcare to welding, culinary arts to cybersecurity. These programs provide students with real-world experience and help them jump-start their careers or college journey.

Important Information for Central Nine Students

Dress Code: Central Nine adheres to industry standards, so students are expected to dress as they would in their chosen occupation. Most programs require students to wear a uniform. Students will not be allowed to participate in class activities if their dress does not follow industry standards or creates a health, safety, or discipline problem.
Parking: Student drivers need a parking pass and must park in the student lot.
Absences: Students and/or parents must report an absence to Central Nine within a 24-hour period to avoid being marked as truant. Reporting the absence to the high school does NOT excuse the student from Central Nine.
Excused Absences: Students can qualify for an excused absence by participating in a job shadow experience, attending a college visit, attending a funeral, attending documented medical appointments, or other circumstances approved by the administration.
Reporting Absences: To submit an absence request through Skyward:
1. Log in to your Central Nine Skyward account.
2. Click on the Attendance tile.
3. Select the Absence Request tab under your child's name.
4. Click + Add Absence Request.
5. Select the Start and End Dates of the absence.
6. Select the Attendance Reason.
7. OPTIONAL: Enter a comment.
8. Click Save in the top left corner.
