Ideal Candidate Profile
GuidePoint Security seeks candidates who are enthusiastic about embarking on a career in cybersecurity. Ideal candidates will be physically located within the United States during the entire duration of the internship and be enrolled full-time in a college or university with an expected graduation in 2026/2027. Furthermore, candidates should possess a basic understanding of information technology, networking, operating systems, and security concepts, coupled with a genuine passion for information security. Motivation, eagerness to learn new skills, and demonstrated efforts toward entering cybersecurity, such as obtaining certifications, attending training sessions, pursuing a formal education, participating in industry organizations, or contributing to personal or industry projects, are highly valued.
Internship Structure and Expectations
The GuidePoint Security internship is a part-time, remote, paid opportunity ($20hr) offered as part of a GPSU cohort running from May 18 - Aug 7, 2026. Interns are expected to work a majority of hours between 11am-4pm EST Monday through Friday, ranging from 25-29hrs/wk. A mandatory in-person onboarding will take place at one of the following office locations: Reston, VA or Tampa, FL (location TBD) from May 18 - May 21, 2026 (all expenses paid). Interns must have a personal computing device and access to high-speed internet during working hours. While the internship does allow flexible hours, interns will often be required to attend trainings and shadowing opportunities between the hours of 11am - 4pm EST, Monday - Friday. In addition, participants will be invited to attend optional internal training sessions hosted by GuidePoint Security professionals.
Time Commitment and Flexibility
The internship requires a significant time commitment, with interns expected to work between 25 and 29 hours per week. While there is some flexibility in scheduling, interns should be available to attend mandatory training sessions and shadowing opportunities during specific hours.

Location Restrictions
This internship is not available for candidates living in the following states: Alaska, California, Hawaii, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, Washington and Wyoming.
