Indexed Tuition and Financial Aid

Indexed Tuition Explained

Harford Day School’s Indexed Tuition approach makes it easier for a diversity of families to afford a high-quality, independent education for their child(ren). Indexed Tuition is a flexible tuition pricing plan based on each family’s specific financial situation. Choosing Harford Day School is an investment in your child’s future. Our program provides a strong academic foundation, fosters intellectual curiosity, and cultivates skills essential for success. A family’s Indexed Tuition level is determined annually by a careful evaluation of the completed Clarity application and related financial documentation submitted each year. Harford Day School strives to meet the demonstrated financial needs of current and prospective families.

Application Process for Indexed Tuition

If your family is interested in applying for Indexed Tuition, please complete the Clarity application concurrently with the admissions application. If you think your family may qualify for Indexed Tuition, you are advised to begin the process at the same time as the admissions application. In addition to the Clarity application and tax returns for the previous two years, the School also considers lifestyle choices and spending patterns as part of the award process. All Indexed Tuition inquiries are kept in the strictest of confidence. This information is not shared with faculty or students.

Scholarships and Additional Funding

To recognize your commitment and your child’s potential to excel in our program, all admissions applications for new students will automatically be considered for a limited number of one-year scholarships for highly qualified applicants as demonstrated through the admissions process. In addition, Harford Day School participates in Child Care Aware of America. Your family may qualify for additional funding.

Philanthropy and the Annual Fund

The entire cost of a Harford Day education is not covered by tuition and fees. At Harford Day School, we are fortunate to enjoy a culture of giving and support, providing us with vital financial resources every independent school needs to thrive and grow. Since the founding of our school in 1957, generations of parents, trustees, alumni, grandparents, faculty, and friends have contributed to Harford Day with a spirit of generosity that makes us proud. Throughout our school’s history, our message remains the same: we ask that the first gift that you make to Harford Day each year be a gift or pledge to the Annual Fund.

Harford Day’s strong tradition of philanthropy strengthens the school today and ensures the promise of tomorrow. Our priority remains the same: funding the faculty and programs that support our mission, so by doing this, we provide opportunities for each student to develop their strengths while exploring new interests. The annual Blue and Green Fund underwrites essential school operational expenses not covered by tuition and fees. The Blue and Green Fund is supported by members of the Harford Day community (current and past parents, alumni, faculty, grandparents, and friends) as well as local businesses and philanthropic organizations. These generous donors make unrestricted donations each year that go directly into our annual operating budget.
