Notably, Humphrey was one of the first black sports editors at a daily newspaper in Arkansas during his time at the Daily Record in the 1980s. David Pryor: A prominent figure in Arkansas politics, David Hampton Pryor served as a U.S. Representative for Arkansas's 4th congressional district from 1966 to 1973 and as a U.S. Senator from Arkansas from 1979 to 1997. A member of the Democratic Party, Pryor also served as the 39th Governor of Arkansas from 1975 to 1979 and was a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1960 to 1966. He even served as the acting chairman of the Arkansas Democratic Party from 2008 to 2009.
John R. Steelman: John Roy Steelman was the first person to serve as "The Assistant to the President of the United States", in the administration of President Harry S. Truman from 1946 to 1953. The office later became the White House Chief of Staff.
Sid McMath: Served as marine, attorney and the 34th governor of Arkansas from 1949 to 1953. In defiance of his state's political establishment, he championed rapid rural electrification, massive highway and school construction, the building of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, strict bank and utility regulation, repeal of the poll tax, open and honest elections, and broad expansion of opportunity for black citizens in the decade following World War II.
Oren Harris: Was a United States representative from Arkansas and a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas and the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas. Gus Malzahn: An American football coach who is currently the offensive coordinator at Florida State. He was the head coach at the University of Central Florida (UCF) from 2021 to 2024, Auburn University from 2013 to 2020, and Arkansas State in 2012. He also served as offensive coordinator at Auburn from 2009 to 2011; in that role, he helped lead the 2010 Auburn Tigers to a national championship victory. As head coach at Auburn, he led the team to a SEC Championship win and an appearance in the 2014 National Championship. Malzahn has coached Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton and two Heisman candidates: Nick Marshall and Tre Mason, including coaching 14 All-Americans. During Malzahn's tenure at Auburn, he was the second-longest tenured head coach at one school in the SEC, behind Nick Saban. He graduated from Henderson State University in 1990.
Sean McGrath: An American football tight ends coach at Missouri Southern State University and a former tight end. He played college football at Eastern Illinois and Henderson State, and signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2012. McGrath also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego / Los Angeles Chargers.
Ken Duke: An American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He formerly played on the PGA Tour, with his sole victory coming at the 2013 Travelers Championship.

He was the winner of season 27 of Dancing with the Stars with partner Sharna Burgess. He has also written two New York Times best sellers.
