Hillel International: Scholarship Opportunities for Jewish Students

Hillel International plays an indispensable role in ensuring the continuity and strength of the Jewish people. For more than 100 years, Hillel's professionals, student leaders, and volunteers have sparked generations of connections to Jewish life and commitment to Jewish values. At 850 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and 16 countries around the world, Hillel is where Jewish students meet new friends, explore their interests, grab a cup of coffee, celebrate Jewish holidays, and kick back and take a break between classes. Hillel offers various scholarship opportunities to help Jewish students get money for college. This article provides an overview of these scholarships and how to apply.

Eligibility and Application Process

To start your application, create an applicant profile. If you can’t finish your application in one sitting, you can save your scholarship progress to resume at any point. Just click the ‘Save my progress and resume later’ button at the top of each page. After completing your applicant profile, you now have the opportunity to apply for as many scholarships as you’re eligible for. Take a moment to scroll up to the top of the scholarship page for all eligibility requirements.

Each scholarship that you apply for will have a few short-answer essay questions ranging from 150 words minimum to 500 words max. Scholarship Opportunities

Hillel International offers a variety of scholarships for Jewish students in the United States and Canada who are attending or preparing to attend four-year colleges and universities or graduate school. Here are some of the scholarships available:

Lilly E.

The Lilly E. scholarship is available to students who will be attending graduate school in the fall of 2026. Applicants must have completed or be on track to complete their undergraduate degree by June 30, 2026, and be attending graduate school in the fall of 2026. Applicants must self-identify as Jewish. Previous attendance at Hillel events is NOT a requirement for this scholarship.

Scholarships for Members of Greek Organizations

Applicants for undergraduate scholarships MUST be initiated members of Alpha Epsilon Phi (AEPhi) who are rising juniors and seniors. For members of Sigma Alpha Mu with Daughters who are in or will be attending college and working toward a degree in Fall 2025, Hillel offers the William P. Schwartz Scholarships and the Weiss Brothers Scholarship for Daughters of Fratres. The amount of these scholarships varies (range is $500-$1500) and they are based on financial need.

Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York (JFedNENY) Scholarships

The Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York (JFedNENY) has a limited number of scholarships, each of which has specific eligibility requirements. Please review the criteria for each scholarship and apply only for those you may be eligible.

Abraham S.

This fellowship supports original doctoral or post-doctoral research in the field of Lithuanian Jewish history for a period of two to three months of research at the YIVO Library and Archives.

Abram W.

Eligible Jewish students may either be undergraduate or graduate students of any college within the University of Central Florida.

General Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and will be scored based on academic performance; chapter, campus and community activities and financial need.
