College Football 25: A Comprehensive Guide to Creating Your Player

College Football 25 boasts huge rosters from schools up and down the US of A. Sometimes you just want the special touch that can really make your game your own, and what better way to do that than to create your own player? In College Football 25, creating a custom player allows you to build a unique athlete tailored to your team's needs. We’ve put together a comprehensive guide to take you through the process of creating a player in College Football 25, including which modes you can use them in and how far the customization goes.

Modes and Limitations

Players will be able to create their own player in College Football 25, but this is limited to the Road to Glory mode, where you take on the role of a specific player rather than coaching an entire team as you would in the Dynasty mode. Created players are confined to the mode in which they were made.

It's speculated that Teambuilder rosters likely won't be customizable at all. There will probably just be different presets of team strength like in the old Teambuilder, only this time we can't edit the players.

Initial Player Creation

When you make your player, you have four different categories to choose from, essentially acting as a ‘story’ for your player, determining how skilled they are at the start of your career. You can choose how skilled your player starts off as. Choose a mentality that fits your playstyle best.

Position and Archetype Selection

Next, you select your position. Select from over 20 positions across offense, defense, and special teams. Each position has several Archetypes to choose from. Each position has core skills (e.g., throwing power for QBs, coverage for DBs).

Customization Options

Once you’ve got the important stuff out of the way, it’s time for the cosmetic side of things. You can customize almost everything about your player, from skin tone and hair to their physique and the kind of gear they use.

As far as editing players in general, you can edit some things about generated recruits in Dynasty. It is confirmed that we can edit name, equipment, height, weight, and physical body part sliders, but not number, at least as of the beta test build. Ratings editing of those guys is up in the air as well, most are speculating that probably isn't in either.

Player Progression and Realism

Yes, created players follow the same development curves as real recruits. Data shows that while players can be highly customized, positional logic and developmental pacing prevent unrealistic builds. For example, no true freshman QB can start with a 99 OVR, preserving dynasty progression integrity. Freshmen can redshirt their first year to extend eligibility. You can model after real 5-star recruits (e.g., Travis Hunter, Caleb Williams) for balanced builds.
