The primary scholarship opportunity for incoming non-resident and international students at ISU is the Bengal Non-Resident Tuition Waivers (NRTWs). These waivers cover a portion of the non-resident tuition, making ISU more affordable.
Eligibility and Application:
- Incoming Students: New non-resident undergraduate students (freshmen or transfers) are automatically considered for NRTW upon applying for admission. Your Application for Admission serves as your NRTW application for ISU.
- Continuing Students: Domestic or international undergraduate students with a 3.0 ISU cumulative GPA who have not previously received an NRTW may contact the Scholarship Office to request NRTW consideration for the following semester/academic year. Note that continuing students in over-subscribed programs and Post-Baccalaureate students are not eligible for NRTW.
- A limited number of NRTWs are awarded on a competitive, first-come, first-served basis, and a GPA of 3.0 or greater is typically required.
Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)
Undergraduate academic or applied technology students from specific states and territories are eligible to participate in WUE. The states/territories include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, the Republic of Palau or the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Eligibility and Application:
- Incoming freshmen and transfer students must submit all admissions materials (admission application, application fee (if applicable), and official high school or college transcripts) to the university in order to be considered.
- Preference is given to students with at least a 2.50 GPA as well as to those who meet our scholarship application deadline. Students who do not meet this criteria will be considered on an individual basis.
- All fields of study at Idaho State University are WUE eligible, however, some high demand or oversubscribed programs may limit the number of non-resident students who can be admitted to their programs.
- Students are notified of their WUE Rate in writing by the ISU Scholarship Office. Once the bill from ISU is generated you will see a WUE rate that you are being charged instead of the full non-resident charge. You can see these charges in your MyISU, under the Student Finances tab.
Non-Resident Tuition Waiver
This scholarship can cover the full out-of-state portion of tuition. It is based on academic merit, so strong grades and test scores are essential. It's important to note that this waiver does not cover living expenses.

International Ambassador Scholarship
