The IKEA MORABO Loveseat: A Comprehensive Review
Finding furniture that balances style, comfort, and affordability can be a challenge. The IKEA MORABO series aims to bridge this gap, offering a sophisticated, mid-century modern aesthetic at a reasonable price. The MORABO loveseat, in particular, has garnered attention as a stylish and space-conscious seating option. This article delves into a comprehensive review of the IKEA MORABO loveseat, exploring its design, materials, comfort, durability, and overall value.
Design and Aesthetics: A Mid-Century Modern Touch
The defining characteristic of the MORABO is its linear design, tufted seat cushions, and slender legs. This "tight back" sofa with a low profile emulates the clean lines of 1960s American corporate design, softened for residential use. As a focal point, the MORABO pairs well with walnut coffee tables and heavy wool rugs, grounding its visual lightness.
Dimensions and Space Efficiency
The IKEA MORABO dimensions are depth-conscious. At roughly 36 1/4 inches deep and 65 3/8 inches wide, it doesn't encroach into the room as much as deeper lounging sofas. The exposed legs also allow light to pass underneath, increasing the perception of floor space. This makes it suitable for smaller living rooms and apartments. The height of the loveseat is 31 7/8 inches, with a height under the furniture of 6 1/4 inches. The armrest width is 5 1/8 inches, the seat width is 55 1/8 inches, the seat depth is 24 inches, and the seat height is 18 1/2 inches.
Customization Options
The MORABO sofa comes in a chair, loveseat, 3 seater, and sectional sofa. It is available in both fabric and real leather options. IKEA’s leather is all chrome-free, making it a relatively non-toxic leather option. The fabric options are currently Grey, Dark Blue, and Light Green. The leather options are Golden Brown, Black, and Grey. The feet can be left wooden or come with leather covers.
Material Quality and Durability
One of the most common questions is about the IKEA Grann leather. IKEA uses "Grann" (grain leather) on contact surfaces-the seat, backrest, and armrests-and "Bomstad" (a durable coated fabric that looks like leather) on the sides and back. This is a standard industry cost-saving measure. The MORABO leather sofa holds up surprisingly well against wear and tear. The leather feels supple to the touch, and because it is dyed through, minor scratches blend in over time. The ikea morabo grey fabric options offer a dense weave that resists pilling, though they are harder to clean than the leather.

Non-Toxic Considerations
IKEA has been a leading company in getting rid of flame retardants, PFAS, and chrome in leather. IKEA’s leather is all chrome-free making it a relatively non-toxic leather option.
Care and Cleaning
The cleaning and care instructions advise using a dust cloth or lightly vacuuming with a soft brush attachment, plus wiping clean with a damp cloth. Besides vacuuming underneath the cushions every so often, a damp cloth is necessary to clean it. Adding a small amount of mild soap to the damp cloth during wipe downs every once in a while to get a proper clean.
Comfort and Ergonomics
The MORABO is a firm seat. The high-resilience foam provides excellent support, which is preferable for formal sitting rooms or reception areas. Planning a MORABO leather sectional for a media room where you plan to lounge horizontally for hours, you will need plenty of throw pillows to soften the angles. The ikea morabo sofa with chaise is the most comfortable configuration for lounging, as it allows for leg extension while maintaining that upright back support.
Comfort Level
It’s upper-midrange (6 or 7 out of 10) for comfort. The seat is very deep. Reviewers recommend adding lumbar pillows for more back support and some throw pillows for coziness.
Napping Potential
Yes, you can nap on it! The loveseat is comfortable enough to take an afternoon nap.

Assembly and Delivery
The MORABO Sofa is available online through IKEA US, as well as in other countries with IKEA locations.
Assembly Process
Very easy to assemble. The only thing you need to assemble is adding the legs to the frame. It only had a few pieces that needed to be bolted together, and then you just had to screw on the legs and Velcro on the cushions. Putting the legs on the couch was extremely simple, and the couch itself has tons of velcro so it’s easy to get the cushions exactly where you want them to be. It took at most 10 minutes with two people, and the most strenuous part of the job was flipping it over once the legs were on.
Delivery Experience
It was a scheduled in-home delivery.
Practicality in a Modern Home
The MORABO is durable and practical in a modern home. It doesn’t have any sharp angles, and the upholstery is extremely easy to wipe clean.
Pet and Kid-Friendly
Compared to a couch covered in regular fabric upholstery, this couch is extremely easy to clean, which makes life with messy kids or pets a lot simpler. The MORABO holds up well to cat claws. It’s easy to vacuum pet hair off of it, and if it gets dirty, it’s easy to clean with a damp cloth.
