About James Madison High School

James Madison High School (JMHS) is an English-medium, online-only, for-profit distance education private high school with its headquarters in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, United States. Established in 1996 to cater to students seeking an alternative approach to traditional high school education, JMHS has a rich history rooted in distance learning. The previous parent company of JMHS, Professional Career Development Institute (PCDI), was founded in 1987. In 2007, all schools under PCDI merged under the Ashworth College umbrella and the name was changed to Ashworth High School. Later, the school rebranded as James Madison High School.

Accreditation

JMHS is regionally and nationally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), an accreditation division of AdvancED. Accreditation ensures that the school meets high-quality educational standards and provides a comprehensive curriculum. Earning an accredited high school diploma can help qualify you for employment where a high school diploma is required.

Diploma Programs Offered

JMHS offers a variety of diploma programs designed to meet diverse student needs and goals. The curriculum for 9th through 12th grade consists of 23 credits and adheres to Common Core standards for Math and English. Diploma programs are non-synchronous and can be started at any time. Students connect with their teachers and fellow students in an online student portal.

General Diploma

The General Diploma program is ideal for students looking to fulfill requirements for job advancement, career training programs, or application to community, junior, or technical colleges. Flexibility and Pacing

One of the key benefits of JMHS is its flexibility. Students can enroll and start their diploma programs at any time and set their own schedule for completing coursework. A diploma program can be completed in as few as 18 months, and transfer credits may shorten completion time to as little as six months. The maximum time allowed to finish the diploma program is six years. Each class at James Madison High School can be completed in as few as 6 weeks. The number of credits you are able to transfer, and the number of classes you take simultaneously, will affect your completion date but that’s the best thing about us.

Credit Transfers

Students can transfer up to 75% of total program credits from other high schools, potentially reducing tuition costs and completion time. JMHS will gladly consider any eligible transfer credits you may have from your previous high school. You may earn up to 17 eligible transfer credits from your previous high school. That means you could graduate with up to $ in tuition savings!

Individual Courses

Students do not need to enroll in a complete diploma program; they can make up credits for single classes (credit recovery). They can take up to five individual courses without enrolling in a full diploma program. Designed for students who may need to make up credits, improve their grades, or take supplemental courses not offered at their current school, JMHS’s individual online high school classes allow you to enroll in only the courses you need to complete instead of enrolling in the full diploma program.

Enrollment and Tuition

To enroll in JMHS’s Online High School, students need to be at least 14 years old. Applicants younger than 18 years of age are required to submit proof of promotion to their previous school’s 9th grade.
