Johnson & Johnson (J&J) offers various scholarship programs aimed at supporting students pursuing careers in healthcare and related fields. These scholarships provide financial assistance and opportunities for professional development, contributing to the growth of future healthcare leaders. Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship

The Johnson & Johnson Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship is designed to encourage and financially support promising students pursuing careers in Nursing. By supporting nursing students, J&J aims to enhance the professional growth of nursing candidates in New Jersey to meet future healthcare demands.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the Johnson & Johnson Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship:

  • Must be enrolled at an ICUNJ (Independent College and University of New Jersey) member college or university as a traditional or accelerated program student.
  • Must be enrolled as a Nursing major or in a major that supports Allied Health careers.
  • Must be pursuing a degree with plans for a career in healthcare or advanced study.

Alliance for Innovation in Medicine (AIM) Program

Established in 2021, Johnson & Johnson partnered with the National Medical Fellowships (NMF) to develop the Alliance for Innovation in Medicine (AIM) program. AIM is an innovative, three-year service-learning program designed to expose high-performing MD, DO, and PharmD students to skill sets that will prepare them to become future clinician and research leaders with a commitment to address the structural and systemic factors, which contribute to poor health outcomes.

The program will expose students to various functions within the pharmaceutical, medical devices, and healthcare industries where physicians play a key role.

Financial Support

This scholarship program provides significant financial support:

  • \$5,000 for the first year
  • \$10,000 for the second year
  • \$10,000 for the third year

Additional financial support is also provided, including reimbursement of USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) related expenses (up to \$2,500).

Program Structure

Year One: The program kicks off with didactic sessions focusing on developing research skills. Scholars will enter the program with a Health equity topic they are interested in pursuing. Group sessions will provide additional education to ensure scholars are equipped to create a capstone project throughout the duration of the program, whilst didactic sessions will increase scholar understanding of research and residency assistance. Scholars will also have the opportunity to work with J&J mentors to receive additional guidance and support throughout their academic journey.

Year Two: Didactic sessions continue with a series of industry-focused topics including but not limited to drug development, drug safety, statistics, real-world evidence, scientific publications, clinical trial protocols, epidemiology, etc. to expose scholars to the various career pathways within this industry.

Year Three: The program focuses on supporting scholars in their final years of their education as they prepare for matriculation.

Close Up Washington Program Sponsorship

In partnership with the Close Up Foundation, Johnson & Johnson sponsors students to participate in the Close Up Washington Program. This program brings students to Washington, D.C., for an immersive experience in government and public policy.

Eligibility

  • Must be a current high school student who lives in New Jersey or Massachusetts.
  • Must be interested in government, public policy, or health care.

Program Details

Accepted students will travel to Washington, D.C., and spend six days and five nights conducting study visits throughout the nation's capital, participating in discussions alongside peers from around the country, and debating pressing issues facing our nation in a Mock Congress.

For instance, accepted students will be sponsored by Johnson & Johnson to attend the Close Up Washington Program from March 31 - April 4, 2025. To be considered for the scholarship, you must complete the application no later than January 24, 2025.
