Investing in Faith and Future: Understanding Lakeland Christian School Tuition and Financial Aid

Choosing the right educational path for your child is a significant decision. For parents seeking a faith-based education, Lakeland Christian School (LCS) offers a comprehensive program integrating Christian values with academic excellence. Understanding the costs associated with this education, as well as the available financial aid options, is crucial for making an informed choice. This article provides a detailed overview of Lakeland Christian School's tuition, financial aid opportunities, and the overall value proposition of a Christian education.

The Value of Christian Education at Lakeland Christian School

Lakeland Christian School has been dedicated to teaching students in the ‘Light of God’s Word’ since 1954. LCS aims to provide the utmost value to students and their families, not just providing them with an academic foundation, but giving them a solid foundation for the future. The teachers, staff, and coaches aim to demonstrate God’s Truth in every subject area, activity, and discussion. A Lakeland Christian School education is an investment in your child’s spiritual, academic, artistic, athletic, and personal growth. LCS takes a seamless approach to education by preparing students not only in the classroom, but on the playing field, on the stage, through leadership opportunities, through chapel time, through extracurricular activities and with friends through social interaction. At LCS, students receive a first-rate education.

Tuition Payment Plans and Associated Fees

Lakeland Christian School offers flexible tuition payment plans to accommodate different family budgets. Tuition payments may be made annually, by semester, quarterly, or over 10 months. All monthly tuition payments are made via electronic funds transfer through Veracross. It is important to note a late fee of one and a half percent per month may be assessed on charges older than thirty days. For payments returned to the school because of insufficient funds, the school will assess a $30.00 service charge. No student may be enrolled in a new semester unless all previous semester payments have been made and if a student is withdrawn during a semester, the full semester’s tuition is due.

Financial Aid Opportunities at LCS

Recognizing that a private Christian education is a significant investment, Lakeland Christian School is pleased to provide need-based financial aid to eligible applicants. Families can apply for tuition assistance once they go through the admissions process. In addition to need based aid provided through LCS, they also accept tax credit and state scholarships for families who may qualify.

New families in need of assistance can apply for financial aid as a part of submitting an application for admission to the school, and returning families can access the application via their portal. You are able to apply for financial assistance to LCS once you have started applying for admission to the school. The application process involves completing the application questionnaire and uploading prior year tax documents.

Eligibility is based on verified reported income and expenses, providing a unique and comprehensive assessment of the family’s financial need. Your financial aid package is based on this assessment, the number of applicants and available funds at the time you submit your financial aid application.

State Scholarships

LCS accepts scholarships through the State of Florida on a limited basis. These scholarships can be coupled with LCS Financial Aid and can be used to offset the cost of tuition and fees. They accept awards through Step Up for Students.

The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship is an income-based scholarship administered through the Step Up for Students Organization. The Family Empowerment Scholarship Program was enacted in 2019 and is designed to give middle-income families access to private school education. The Family Empowerment Scholarship Program, administered by SUFS, helps parents individualize the educational plans for their children with special needs. Scholarships can be used for specialized services such as speech or occupational therapy, instructional materials, tuition at an eligible private school, contributions to a college prepaid account and more.

Multi-Child Discount

LCS is pleased to offer a multi-child discount. A family’s second child receives a $1,250 discount, and the third child receives a $2,500 discount.

Special Programs and Associated Costs

The Lakeland Christian School Discovery Program is an educational program for students with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or a related disorder characterized by similar traits as ASD who require a modified academic setting. Small group instruction is given based on your child’s individual needs in reading and math. Each child will receive an ILP written by the DP teachers driven by data from nationally normed assessments and personal interactions with the student. Children in the Discovery Program must be nonaggressive, non-eloping, and be able to work or play for a developmentally-appropriate amount of time as determined by the Discovery Program team and they must be able to complete all toileting needs independently. Tuition includes two sessions of occupational therapy per week.

Additional Services and Fees

The Lakeland Christian School cafeteria offers a variety of meal alternatives that cater to our diverse student population. Cafeteria menus and meal item portions are created to meet the varied levels of student preferences. All menus are reviewed and approved by a registered dietician to ensure menus meet nutrition standards and nutrient composition from a variety of food sources that support optimal nutrition. Students receive three daily meal options ranging from “the classics” (home-style favorites), peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and deli-meat sandwiches. Meal service transactions are processed through a point-of-service register system which allows parents to review and monitor student purchases on a daily basis. Parents are asked to place money in their child’s lunch account and maintain a positive balance at all times.

Applying for Financial Aid: A Step-by-Step Guide

Families needing assistance are welcome to apply for financial aid after submitting a completed application for admission. Once you have submitted your application for admission to LCS, you will receive the link to the Financial Aid Application through School and Student Services (SSS). You will create an account, complete the application, and provide the required documentation. This financial information is strictly confidential and has no effect on the admissions decision.

Important Considerations for Families with Disabilities

Notice to parents enrolling students under the FES-UA scholarship: Please note that our school accommodates students with disabilities in accordance with the requirements under federal and local law. However, your child may not necessarily receive the types of accommodations or related services that your child may be entitled to receive at a public school as public schools have different obligations under the IDEA. The IDEA does not apply to private schools.
