- Notifications: Get notifications for important tasks (i.e. aid and support), or the First Resort (for tools to navigate LBCC), and more. Notifications prompt you to take action or congratulate you on a job well done.
- Success Team: Facilitates contact with your success team.
- Proxy Access (FERPA): Allows authorized individuals (proxies) to access specific student information.
- FERPA Compliance: Proxy Access is necessary to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Authorization: Access is authorized by the student. LBCC staff cannot change the permission settings for proxies.
- Setup: Students can grant proxy access through their My LB account.
- Proxy Invitation: To Proxy Access.
- Stop Date: Enter the date you would like the proxy’s access to end.
- Information Selection: Select the information you would like your proxy to have access to view. Changes are immediate.
- Multiple Students: Proxy access is possible in the case of siblings attending LBCC. each student's name.
- Proxy View: Proxies can access the information you have authorized them to view from the "Select to view" drop down in the "I am a proxy for" section.

Important Initial Steps for New Students
The LBCC High School Outreach team is available to assist all incoming college students in successfully completing their enrollment steps. Here's a checklist of essential steps:
- Apply for Admission: Complete the free online college application to apply for admission at LBCC.
- Application Period: You may apply for the Summer/Fall or Winter/Spring terms.
- Account Creation: If you’ve never attended a CA Community College, click “Create an Account”. You will receive a 6-digit security code. If you already have an account, click ”Sign In”.
- Application Sections:
- Education Section: Under Education Section, select “First Time College Student.” This includes dual enrollment students.
- Residency Section: Under Residency Section, if DACA eligible, DO NOT enter your SSN OR TPIN.
- Completion: Complete all sections of the application.
- Financial Aid: To ensure LBCC receives your financial aid application, make sure to list LBCC as one of your schools, our code is 001219. Log into your Viking Student System and Financial Aid account to verify submission. Choose a contact method to receive a verification code. - Long Beach College Promise/Viking Advantage Participation Agreement: Once you’ve applied to LBCC and created your Viking Student Portal, you will need to complete the online participation agreement for Long Beach College Promise or Viking Advantage. Enter your LBCC Viking ID number & Password.
- Guided Placement Tool: Students are required to complete the online Guided Placement Tool. This is a course placement survey to help counselors know what English, Math, and ESL sequence you place into at the college level. Enter your LBCC Viking ID number & Password.
- Counseling Services: LBCC counselors offer a range of services, including: Academic Counseling, Career Exploration, Educational Planning, College Transfer, etc. There will be varying availability that is subject to change.
