The Labcorp School of Medical Laboratory Science (LSMLS) is a 12-month hybrid professional development program that trains individuals to become medical laboratory scientists. The program combines online courses with hands-on, in-person clinical instruction at various sites.
Program Overview
The LSMLS program provides students with access to Labcorp's collective knowledge and expertise in clinical laboratory testing from hospitals, reference labs, and esoteric testing centers. The program is committed to providing students with the most current and clinically relevant didactic theory-based curriculum and hands-on practical experiences.
The coursework is designed to meet national healthcare needs, enabling graduates to confidently enter their careers, serve the community, and advance into leadership positions. The curriculum covers principles and theory of management, diagnostic clinical microbiology, the human immune system, and blood group serology and transfusion medicine.
Admission Requirements
To apply for admission, applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree with at least 16 credit hours of Chemistry (including Biochemistry or Organic Chemistry) and 16 credit hours of Biology (including Microbiology with Lab). Courses in genetics, molecular biology, anatomy/physiology, immunology, and statistics are strongly recommended.
Applicants should have a cumulative GPA and an average GPA of science/math courses of 2.75 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Applicants with a GPA between 2.50-2.75 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must successfully complete all Labcorp and applicable program affiliates’ employment application, drug screen, and background checks.
Accreditation
The Labcorp School of Medical Laboratory Science is seeking full accreditation by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). The LSMLS was approved for Serious Applicant Status by NAACLS in May .
