Lola Duff Scholarship: A Comprehensive Guide

The Lola G. Duff and William H. Duff, II Scholarship Fund, established through the will of Lola G. Duff and administered by PNC Bank, NA, Trustee, offers financial assistance to students in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. This scholarship supports students of Protestant faith who are pursuing a full-time program leading to their first bachelor’s degree. Geographic Restrictions

Financial Need and Merit

Awards are classified into two categories: merit and financial need. Students can apply for and potentially receive awards in both categories, but separate applications are required for each.

Award Details

The Trustee determines the total funding available for new awards, as well as the approximate number and size of the awards.

Financial Need-Based Awards

For students who demonstrate financial need, award amounts range from $4,000 to $15,000. Recipients must demonstrate financial need as calculated by Scholarship America.

Merit-Based Awards

For merit-based applicants, award amounts are $6,000 per year at public schools and $12,000 per year at private schools.

Renewal

Awards are renewable for up to three additional years, or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever comes first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining the required GPA and continued full-time enrollment for the entire academic year.

Notification

All applicants will be notified of the selection results by early June.

This scholarship is for high school seniors living in Venango County who have completed a FAFSA.

The Good Citizen Scholarship

The Good Citizen Scholarship is reserved for students who have shown extraordinary commitment to community service and who have demonstrated creativity in shaping their volunteer activities.

Phi Beta Kappa Service Scholars Awards

Phi Beta Kappa invites students to apply to this scholarship who expect to graduate in the Fall/Winter of 2023 to Spring 2025. The Society will award Service Scholars with a $5,000 scholarship and a trip to Washington, D.C. Applicants must have an interest in working in the public sector and show academic excellence (overall GPA of 3.5 or higher).

PHEAA Scholarship Sweepstakes

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) is offering a $2,500 scholarship sweepstakes for DE, MD, NJ, OH, VA and WV residents who will be college students for the 2025-26 academic year who opt in to receive communications from PHEAA between 6/5/2025 and 12/15/2025. Twelve scholarship winners will be selected and announced in August and December.

First-Generation Scholarship

Peter A. Leutscher Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship is available online to students entering their junior or senior year at a qualified 4-year college, majoring in an environmental concentration of engineering, science, or education, with preference given to graduates of Erie Cathedral Prep or a Crawford County high school. The board of directors accepts and reviews scholarship applications on a rolling basis, without static deadlines.

Sara A. Winland Scholarship Program

P.E.O. Chapter BG, a Mercer County service group, has a scholarship opportunity for young women in grade 12 called the Sara A. Winland Scholarship Program. Preference is given to Mercer County residents, but other students are also able to apply.

California "Helping" Professions Scholarships

Applicants must be residents of California and working on a degree in the “helping” professions, including ministry.

BCNE Church Scholarships

Active members or leaders of BCNE churches in good standing are invited to apply for scholarships for current BCNE pastors and staff members who want to further their education, or for students at a BCNE church who want to prepare for vocational ministry in New England.

BCM/D Church Scholarships

Students are eligible if they are a member in good standing of a cooperating BCM/D church and currently enrolled in at least 6 credits/year at a master’s degree level or above of an accredited seminary.

Southern Baptist College or Seminary Scholarships

Applicants must be serving in a ministerial level position and be enrolled in a degree-seeking bachelor’s or master’s program at a Southern Baptist college or seminary. Scholarships are only applicable for coursework attempted in the fall and spring semesters.

Georgia Baptist Mission Board Church Scholarships

Applicants must be or have been a resident of Georgia at the time of application to the Seminary and must provide a recommendation from a Cooperating Georgia Baptist Mission Board church noting dates of membership with the church. Students must also enroll for a minimum of six hours to be considered for a partial award and nine hours to be considered for a full award. Only Master candidates will be considered for awards.

Applicants must be or have been a resident of Georgia at the time of application to the Seminary and must be a member of a cooperating Georgia Baptist Convention church. Students must be entering their first semester of seminary to be eligible for this scholarship.

Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention Church Scholarships

Student must be an active member of a Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention church or mission for more than 5 years. The Hawaii Pacific Baptist Church must approve the application of the student. The student must have been born and living in Hawaii.

Northwest Baptist Convention Church Scholarships

Scholarships will be given to students who are affiliated with a Northwest Baptist Convention Church.

Illinois Baptist Church Scholarships

Annual scholarships for undergraduate and master- level Illinois students who are members in good standing for at least one year of an Illinois Baptist Church cooperating with Illinois Baptist State Association. Students must be full-time for both fall and spring semesters.

Iowa Ministry Scholarships

Applicants must be studying for ministry in the Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, and Congregational Churches. Applicants must have been residents of Iowa prior to entering college.

Iowa Southern Baptist Church Scholarships

Applicants must be from the state of Iowa, be high school graduates, have good moral character, and show financial need. Applicants must be active members of a Southern Baptist Church and must be preparing for full-time Christian service.
