A Minimester is a “miniature semester” of either 3- or 4-Week length taking place after the Fall and Spring Semesters, in December and May. When searching for classes, select the Spring Term for the December Minimester and the Summer Term for the May Minimester.

It’s never too late to enroll in classes at Lone Star College. Each semester, the college offers Next Start classes ranging from 8 to 14 weeks that are available in-person, online or hybrid formats. Next Start classes fit a broad range of goals to help students earn associate degrees, program certificates or transfer credits to a four-year university. Registration Information

Registration opens for the upcoming academic year April 13, 2026. To view your Pathway Plan and register for classes; visit my.lonestar.edu, click on the student tile, then manage classes, then plan and register.

Registration Tips and Recommendations

  • Early Registration: Classes may fill up quickly, so we recommend that you register as early as possible.
  • Check Class Listings: Also check the class listing periodically to see if additional class sections are available.
  • Advising: LSC encourages students to participate in advising.
  • Advisor Communication: Yes, if you don't see the course you need or it's full, let your advisor know. Once registration for the full year has opened you may not need to meet with your advisor every semester.

Course Load and Overload Policies

  • Full-Time Course Load: A full-time course load is 12 to 18 credit hours.
  • Overload: An overload is defined as attempting more than 18 credit hours in the fall or spring term.

Financial Information

Students are responsible for paying charges by the payment due date. Students not paying by the due date may be dropped from their classes. While you may register for the entire academic year, you will only be able to pay for the current term. Fall charges will reflect on your bill beginning in June. No, you will only have to pay for the current-term charges. We review your eligibility for financial aid for all terms for which you are enrolled. We award and pay financial aid on a semester basis, and this does not change with the new enrollment option.

Textbook Information

Yes, textbook requirements will be available a year in advance, provided there are no changes to the instructor's selected textbooks, which is a possibility.

Policies

You will be dropped from the proceeding course, and you will need re-register/retake the prerequisite course.

Veterans Affairs

You may submit your Request for Certification early, but it will be processed no earlier than 120 days before the start of the term. Department of Veterans Affairs does not allow certifications to be submitted before that timeframe. Book vouchers are processed 10 business days prior to the start of each term.

Syllabi

Syllabi will be available per semester no later than the 7th day of class.

Faculty and Staff Resources

For faculty and staff, Academic Affairs can hold a workshop and tips. Fall, Spring and Summer schedules need to be completed 2 weeks prior to registration opening for the Fall. Adoptions for the entire academic year will be due on April 1st.
