Loyalist College: Enhancing the Student Experience Through Innovative Infrastructure and Design

Loyalist College is dedicated to continually improving its infrastructure to create innovative spaces that enrich the student experience and address the needs of its communities. The college is actively engaged in construction and renovation projects across its campuses, reflecting its commitment to providing a modern and supportive learning environment.

Ongoing Construction and Renovations

Construction is a continuous process on campus, and Loyalist College keeps students updated on important information to ensure smooth navigation around campus. On Sept. 21, 2023, the college broke ground on the Loyalist Entrance and Athletic Facilities (LEAF) initiative.

Indigenous Centre: Tsi Titewaya’taró:roks

The college's Indigenous Centre, Tsi Titewaya’taró:roks, offers wraparound academic and social support for Indigenous learners on campus. Its name, which means “a place where we gather as a family” in Mohawk, reflects the Centre’s mission to be a home away from home for Indigenous students. A new, expanded Indigenous Centre is currently under construction.

Northumberland County Location

Loyalist’s new location in Northumberland County is an essential pathway for learners of all ages to pursue life-changing educational opportunities within their community. The Port Hope campus celebrated its grand opening in September 2024.

Nourish Restaurant

Nourish restaurant at the Belleville campus opened its doors in Fall 2024. This space features a 100-seat dining room with a patio overlooking the campus grounds.

Health and IMPACT Centre

The new Health and IMPACT Centre in Belleville provides a central location for Loyalist’s health and support services.

FailSafe

The FailSafe in Belleville is a new technology-based learning environment and makerspace.

Culinary Labs and the Market

Loyalist’s newly renovated culinary labs provide a space for students to refine their baking skills alongside experienced faculty, expert researchers, and industry professionals. The Market, a new retail location, puts Culinary students’ talents on display for the Bay of Quinte community.

Athletic Facilities

In 2023, Loyalist opened new varsity team rooms in Belleville. A new athletic therapy clinic opened in Belleville in 2024. This dynamic space provides varsity athletes and active individuals with a range of recovery and rehabilitation services. Loyalist’s Belleville location has a new CFL-sized field and new outdoor sportsplex with stadium seating.

Unwind Spa

Unwind at our Belleville location is an industry-aligned teaching and learning spa that offers high-quality, student-led esthetic services.

Mechatronics Lab

Program Maps

Program Maps display the general structure of each program, based on a specific program code and start date. They aid in planning by showing which semesters have scheduled courses and where breaks occur, outlining when a General Elective course has been scheduled, if applicable, and estimating the courses in which students will be enrolled each semester, subject to successful completion of prerequisites. Each program map is based on the academic year when the program started. Once you launch the program map document, use Ctrl-F to search for your program code (best) or program name. If searching for your program name, be aware that there may be multiple intakes of the same program listed within the program map. Make sure you find the program that matches your start date.

Residence Options

Loyalist College Residence provides a safe and vibrant community in a wooded country setting that engages students in enriching living and learning experiences. The residence program provides an ideal transition support to college life, with 606 beds between two different styles of fully furnished residences (apartment or townhouse). Students benefit from live-in peer support, full-time professional staff, 24/7 security staff, and a variety of social and developmental programming opportunities.

Apartment-Style Residences

Each apartment has six individual bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a common living area. Single occupancy bedrooms contain a twin bed, study desk and chair, desk lamp, dresser, night table, bookshelf, and a corkboard. Accessible accommodations are offered exclusively within the apartment-style units. Utilities are not included (approx. $75-$100 per month).

Townhouse Residences

Townhouses are another residence option.

Residence Amenities

The residences feature laundry facilities, a sports pad with basketball hoops, a beach volleyball court, and outdoor barbecues. The Residence Commons building offers study rooms, a coffee shop, a lounge with a fireplace, a big screen TV, and security-protected areas for socializing, studying, and enjoying events like open mic nights. A $25 programming fee will apply to each contract term to cover educational and social programming.

Applications to residence must be completed online through StarRez, which can be accessed through the myLoyalist portal. The Winter 2026 residence application is open, and spaces are still available. The Spring/Summer 2026 application will be live on Jan.

Belleville Campus

Located on more than 200 scenic acres in the Bay of Quinte region, the Belleville campus has over 70 full-time programs and offers a range of in-person services for students and the community. The campus is located on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road (exit 538 off Highway 401), 190 kilometers east of Toronto, 230 kilometers west of Ottawa, and just 1.6 kilometers from the Bay of Quinte.

Parking

Sponsored students will be provided with the option of ordering a SPONSORED STUDENT permit only. A $10 surcharge will be applied to all fines not paid or appealed within 10 days of issuance.

Transportation

There are two bus stops on campus, conveniently located at the Kente building and at residence.

Off-Campus Housing Support

Whether students are planning to live on campus in residence or are seeking off-campus housing, Loyalist College is there to help find a comfortable home away from home! New students who are new to Loyalist and starting the first term of their program have access to residences for the Belleville and Port Hope locations. Living in residence provides access to recreational and study spaces and 24/7 staff and security support, as well as participation in fun social and educational programming that complements the academic experience.

For students interested in living off campus in Belleville or Port Hope, Loyalist College offers support through the Off-Campus Housing Office to help navigate the rental market, create a budget, secure a lease, and understand city bylaws and regulations.

Home Share Program

Home Share is an innovative, mutually beneficial housing solution that skillfully matches older adults in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties with Loyalist students. Students are able to provide support with household tasks (not personal care) in exchange for discounted rent.
