A Legacy of Jesuit and Marymount Education
Founded in 1911, Loyola Marymount University is the only Jesuit and Marymount Catholic university in Los Angeles. Its origins trace back to St. Vincent's College for Boys, established in 1865 by the Vincentians, making it the first institution of higher learning in Southern California. In 1911, the Jesuits assumed leadership, renaming the school Los Angeles College.
The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary began teaching local young women in 1923, eventually establishing Marymount College. In 1973, Loyola University and Marymount College officially merged, creating Loyola Marymount University and uniting the educational traditions of the Jesuits, Marymount sisters, and Orange sisters into a single institution.

LMU offers a comprehensive range of academic programs across its six colleges and two schools:

A Vibrant Campus and Location
LMU's campus is situated on the Del Rey Hills in the Westchester neighborhood of Los Angeles, offering stunning views and a dynamic environment. The original 99 acres were donated by Harry Culver, a real estate developer. The first buildings on the Westchester Campus were Xavier Hall and St. Robert's Hall, completed in 1929. Today, LMU houses 36 academic, athletic, administrative, and event facilities, as well as twelve on-campus residence halls and six on-campus apartment complexes.
The university acquired a 1,000,000-square-foot building in 2000 and completed its interior remodel in 2001. LMU is committed to sustainability, with three LEED-certified buildings on campus and student sustainability jobs available in the recycling program.

Directions:
- From Los Angeles International Airport: Travel north on Sepulveda Blvd., merge onto Lincoln Blvd., and follow it north past Manchester Blvd. Turn right onto LMU Drive.
- From the South: Travel on 405 North, exit on La Tijera, turn left. Take La Tijera until Manchester Blvd. and turn right. Stay on Manchester until Lincoln Blvd. and turn right. Proceed on Lincoln Blvd. to the main entrance at Lincoln and LMU Drive.
- From the North: Travel on 405 South, exit on Jefferson Blvd., and turn right. Head west and turn left onto Lincoln Blvd. Head south and turn left into the campus on LMU Drive.
- From the East (using the 105 Freeway): Travel on 105 West, exit on Sepulveda Blvd., and go north. Merge onto Lincoln Blvd. and follow it north past Manchester Blvd. Turn right onto LMU Drive.
- From the East (using the 10 Freeway): Travel on 10 West to 405 South, exit on Jefferson Blvd., and turn right. Head west and make a left onto Lincoln Blvd. Head south and turn left into the campus on LMU Drive.
Parking:
Campus visitors are charged $2 every 20 minutes of parking, with a daily maximum of $10. All parked vehicles must be registered via license plate number. Fans attending games at LMU will be required to register and pay for parking, except on Saturdays and Sundays.
