Enrollment and Graduation Process

MLI's program enables students to obtain their high school diploma, even if they were previously unable to pass the STAAR, TAKS, or EOC Test requirements for graduation through a public high school.

Enrolling in this program necessitates providing proof of completion of all high school courses in the form of current school transcripts, along with a picture ID. While most colleges, universities, and military branches within the continental United States recognize the Home School High School Diploma offered through MLI's Online Program, an Alliance Program is available for international, military-minded, or university-bound students. Legal Recognition in Texas
MLI is recognized throughout the United States as a Private Learning Institute and Home School Service. In Texas, it is considered a "Non-Traditional Secondary Educational Program" as outlined in the Texas Education Code established by the 78th legislature on September 1, 2003. The state of Texas considers the successful completion of a nontraditional secondary education to be equivalent to graduation from a public high school. An institution of higher education must treat an applicant for admission to the institution as an undergraduate student who presents evidence that the person has successfully completed a nontraditional secondary education. Each applicant must be considered by the same general standards as other applicants for undergraduate admission who have graduated from a public high school. They cannot be forced to take an examination or comply with any other application or admission requirement not generally applicable to other applicants for undergraduate admission to the institution.
State Standardized Testing Scores
Since MLI is not required to administer TAKS or STARR tests for graduation purposes, SAT and ACT scores are considered State Standardized Testing Scores. These scores support the diploma and transcripts when applying to state or government positions. University College programs also require SAT and ACT scores for entrance criteria and financial aid eligibility. Statement of Faith and Denominational Affiliations
MI's statement of faith is evangelical, creedal, and sacramental. Being Lutheran is an issue of substance rather than style, of theology rather than methodology. They are Reformational in their understanding of the authority of Scripture and the centrality of grace and faith. MI is an approved Seminary for Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ and has placed students in Missouri Synod, ELCA, and non-denominational settings.
Degree Programs and Ministry Opportunities
MI graduates receive a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) along with solid leadership training, equipping them to serve as pastors, church planters, missionaries, worship leaders and director of music ministries, youth or Christian education ministers, para-church ministers, or workers in other areas of leadership.
Evaluation and Grading
The faculty, or the Dean of Spiritual Formation and Contextual Leadership, evaluate homework assignments for “Clarity of Thought” and “Comprehension.” Papers are evaluated using the traditional A-F grading system on a 100-point scale. The grade reflects preparation as students are formed for Kingdom ministry, with MI equally concerned with excellence in character and equipping for leadership as with academics.

Graduate Placement
Graduates are currently serving in the ARC (Alliance of Renewal Churches), LCMC (Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ), HNI (Harvest Network International) Churches, the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), or have returned to their sending church in some leadership capacity or as a church planter of that congregation. Other church networks are also beginning to discover MI and may receive MI graduates in the future such as Evangelical Free churches, Covenant churches, Vineyard churches, and more.
Licensing and Ordination
MI has teamed up with IMF (International Ministerial Fellowship) to help with licensing and ordination, assisting students in finding positions suitable to their gifts and training and continuing in this relationship throughout their ministry if desired.
Faculty Structure and Curriculum
All of MI's faculty are adjunct, including pastors in the Twin Cities who have a gift and passion for communicating the Christian message, and seminary professors whose values and gifting fit well with the program. MI’s curriculum is fashioned in a seminar format, with each weekly seminar running from 8:00 - 12:30 pm (Central) on Thursdays and Fridays. Most seminars are contained in 1-2 weeks. Students desiring to study Greek/Hebrew are encouraged to do so through intensives or summer courses through various seminaries.
Character Formation
Recognizing that academic training is insufficient for Christian leadership, MI emphasizes character formation. The MI approach is three-fold: Biblical teaching is one-third of the program, with character formation and hands-on leadership training comprising the other two-thirds. Character formation includes weekly personal time with a mentor who helps to give encouragement, direction, and correction when needed, group mentoring (students meet together for encouragement and accountability), and personal daily devotions (which includes the reading of devotional classics). The mentoring is personal and relational rather than academic.

Yes, courses are offered online. The Master’s Institute admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded and made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational or admissions policies, scholarship or other school-administered programs.
