McKesson Foundation Scholarship Programs: Empowering Futures in Healthcare and Beyond
The McKesson Foundation is dedicated to removing barriers to quality healthcare across North America, with a focus on supporting vulnerable and under-resourced communities. Understanding that a health crisis, such as a cancer diagnosis, can create significant financial strain for patients and their families, the Foundation extends its support to various initiatives. These include programs recognizing the needs and generosity of McKesson employees and their families. The McKesson Foundation offers several scholarship programs and funding opportunities designed to support education and community well-being.
Supporting Employees and Their Families
The McKesson Foundation acknowledges the importance of supporting its employees and their families, especially during times of need. Two key programs exemplify this commitment:
Scholarship Program: This program provides financial assistance to the dependents of McKesson employees who are pursuing higher education in college or vocational school programs.
Taking Care of Our Own Fund: This fund offers grants to McKesson employees facing unexpected financial hardships, such as family emergencies or natural disasters.
In addition to these direct support programs, the Foundation encourages employees' philanthropic activities by matching their donations to eligible nonprofits, up to $2,500 per employee annually.

Strategic Funding Priorities
The McKesson Foundation focuses its support on programs that closely align with its funding priorities. While the Foundation recognizes the value of work being done across various sectors, it is only able to consider inquiries that meet specific criteria. The Foundation accepts applications for funding requests above $25,000 from February 1 through April 30 each year. Funding decisions are made in August, and all applicants are notified shortly thereafter. The Foundation supports both national and local organizations, with national programs potentially spanning the United States and/or Canada, or focusing on targeted regions. All grant applications must be submitted online.

A Legacy of Support
For over three decades, the McKesson Foundation has demonstrated its commitment to education by awarding more than $3.6 million in academic scholarships to children of McKesson employees, supporting over 770 students in their college journeys. This investment has helped countless individuals achieve their academic and career aspirations.
Matthew Randazzo, a McKesson Foundation scholarship recipient, exemplifies the transformative impact of this support. His mother's employment with McKesson, coupled with the scholarship, enabled him to pursue his education without the burden of excessive student loans. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and Latin American studies.
Matthew credits the support his family received from McKesson for setting him on a path to a great future. His mother's stable job allowed his family to buy a home, go on vacation, and invest in his education, ultimately improving their quality of life.
