Megan Thee Stallion: From Rapper to College Graduate

Megan Thee Stallion, born Megan Pete, has proven herself to be more than just a chart-topping rapper. She is a businesswoman, an advocate, and now, a college graduate. In her hit song “Thot Sh*t”, she declared, “2021 finna graduate college,” and she made good on that promise. Later this month, the Houston Hottie will graduate from Texas Southern University (TSU), a historically black college and university (HBCU) in Houston, TX.

A Balancing Act

The road to graduation hasn't been easy for Meg. Life as a full-time entertainer can make it difficult to focus on studies. Megan herself described her college experience as a "roller coaster." She started at Prairie View A&M, attended some community colleges in between, and is now ending her journey at TSU.

In a March 6 appearance on The Breakfast Club, she candidly revealed that her busy schedule, full of performances, photoshoots, interviews, and other music-related obligations, had taken a toll on her grade point average.

GPA Revealed

According to Blavity, she admitted during The Breakfast Club interview that her GPA was 2.7, equivalent to a B- on a 4.0 GPA scale. While this might not be a perfect score, it demonstrates her commitment to education despite the demands of her career. It's a testament to her hard work and determination to balance her dreams with her studies.

More Than Just a Degree: Future Plans

Megan's ambition extends beyond the music industry and her degree. She plans to open an assisted-living facility in her hometown. "I watched my grandmother take care of my great-grandmother," Megan told Angie Martinez. "I wanted other elderly people to feel like they’re taken care of while still in a home environment where they felt safe… Like, a family environment.” This heartfelt goal reveals a deep sense of responsibility and a desire to give back to her community.

An Inspiration

Megan Thee Stallion's journey is an inspiration to anyone pursuing their dreams while also striving for an education. She has proven that it is possible to chase multiple goals simultaneously with dedication and perseverance. As she tweeted over the summer, “Don’t get discouraged! You can chase your dreams and your education at the same time."

A Growing Resume

Megan can now add "HBCU graduate" to her growing resume. This already includes three Grammy awards and brand collaborations with Popeyes, Revlon, Mielle Organics, Nike, and Coach. She continues to uplift while she climbs.
