Navigating Metrolink Fares

Key Fare Options
- One-Way Ticket: A standard fare for a single trip between two stations.
- L.A. Zone Day Pass: This pass allows unlimited travel between 8 central L.A. stations for $5/day. It's ideal for visitors traveling within the zone surrounding central Los Angeles and includes free transfers to bus and rail transit services in L.A. County. Note: Only the CA EBT discount may be applied to the L.A. Zone Pass.
- 5-Day Flex Pass: Offers five one-day passes to use between your two stations anytime within 30 days. Perfect for hybrid work schedules and flexible travel plans. Price is based on the distance between your two stations.
- Monthly Pass: Provides unlimited rides on Metrolink trains for the entire calendar month of purchase between your two stations. It also includes unlimited systemwide travel on weekends. Important Changes to Fare Options
Several fare options were discontinued starting July 1, 2025, as part of the fare restructure pilot program. Students will now receive a 50% discount on all fares except the L.A. Zone.
Understanding the L.A. Zone Pass
The new L.A. Zone Pass allows unlimited travel between 8 central L.A. stations for $5/day. It’s ideal for visitors traveling and includes free transfers to bus and rail transit services in L.A. County. The L.A. Zone Pass is specifically designed for travel within a defined area of central Los Angeles, encompassing eight key stations.
Combining Discounts for Maximum Savings
Metrolink offers various discounts to different groups, and in some cases, these discounts can be combined for even greater savings.
- Stacking Discounts: All discounts can be combined with the Mobility-4-All discount for even deeper savings.
- Everyday Discounts: All existing Everyday Discounts continue, plus a new discount for veterans. Discounts apply to all fares, except the L.A.
- Non-Combinable Discounts: Everyday Discounts cannot be combined with each other. For example, a rider cannot combine a Disabled discount with a Student discount or a Veteran discount with a Senior discount.

Metrolink's Fare Restructure Pilot Program
The 6-month fare pilot is designed to simplify fares, make them easier to understand and use, reflect today’s travel habits (like hybrid commuting and leisure trips), and improve affordability and equity for all riders. Metrolink evaluated all fares and identified opportunities for adopting best practices, including new and less confusing ticket choices. An audit of our distance-based fare calculations recommended correcting several inconsistencies in how fares have been calculated for some stations based on distance.
Pilot Program Evaluation
This is a pilot program that will run through the end of 2025. Metrolink will evaluate customer response, ridership trends, and revenue impacts before determining the next steps. The pilot is being evaluated to determine if the changes should become permanent. Customer feedback and ridership data will play a key role. Metrolink will evaluate ridership trends, revenue impacts, and customer feedback. A decision will be made after the pilot ends.
