All MGA students are considered for our foundation scholarships. All MGA students are considered for our Foundation scholarships and no formal applications are required. While a formal scholarship application is not required, all students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA each academic year they want to be considered for a scholarship. After you submit the General Application (and any extra ones), the system will automatically match you with scholarships that best fit your profile. MGA begins awarding scholarships in May and continues throughout the academic year.

HOPE Scholarship Program

The HOPE Scholarship Program is open to residents of Georgia seeking a degree at eligible Georgia post - secondary institutions. The value of your award is based upon your enrollment in either a public or private institution and may be based upon your overall GPA.

HOPE Scholarships and Grants are available for qualified students attending MGA and may be applied to eligible tuition charges not covered by another source that is applied to student's tuition. HOPE Scholarship: Attempted Hours and Time Limits

I have attempted 125 HOPE hours after Spring Semester. How much will HOPE pay for courses I am taking upcoming Fall Semester? HOPE will cover up to 127 attempted hours. Since you only have 2 attempted hours left, HOPE will pay for 2 hours. I am currently a HOPE scholar. Is there a time limit besides attempted hours to use HOPE scholarship? Yes, you must use your HOPE scholarship within 7 years of graduating from High School. If you received HOPE Scholarship during Summer Semester 2010 - Spring Semester 2011, you are grandfathered in until June 2015. Example: You graduated from High School May 2005 and received the Hope Scholarship Summer Semester 2010 - Spring Semester 2011, you then have until June 2015 to use HOPE scholarship. If you graduated May 2010, you have until June 2017. If you were on Military Active Duty during your seven years, your time will be extended the equivalent of the length of your active duty.

Regaining HOPE Scholarship Eligibility

I was a HOPE scholar but I lost it. Can I still get back into the program? Yes, you can get back into the program after you reach an attempted hours checkpoint of 30, 60, or 90 hours. The new rule is that you can only get back into the HOPE program one time. If you lose it a second time you can never get back into the program. For example, you lose HOPE at a spring checkpoint. You get it back at the 30 hour attempted checkpoint. The next spring semester checkpoint you drop below 3.0 GPA again.

Zell Miller Scholarship

Qualifications are the same as HOPE Scholarship recipients except students must graduate from high school with a GPA of 3.7 or higher and receive a score of at least 1200 on combined Critical Reading Score and Math Score on the SAT or have received a score of at least 26 on the ACT. A Valedictorian or Salutatorian is automatically eligible. Zell Miller Scholarship recipients receive full tuition at Middle Georgia State University. Checkpoints and award limits are the same as the HOPE scholarship except to remain eligible they must have at least a 3.3 at checkpoints.

Under most federal programs, the amount of grant or loan money for which a student is eligible can be increased to cover additional costs of studying abroad. Awards of financial aid for study abroad are based, in part, on financial need and the level of a studentâs need is measured by a formal evaluation process. Students approved for a study abroad program may apply for scholarships through the Financial Aid Office. Applying for credit-bearing study abroad programs in a country or area with an overall Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2, or approved Level 3 exception location. In the process of applying to, or accepted for, a study abroad or internship program eligible for credit from the studentâs home institution. Multi-country/area programs are allowed.
