Automatic Admission

If your high school courses prepare you to succeed at Missouri State by graduation, then congratulations - you are guaranteed automatic admission! Your high school courses prepare you to succeed at Missouri State. The high school core curriculum requirement is based on recommendations of the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education.

Test Scores

Although not always required for admission, you may consider sending test scores to possibly qualify for freshman scholarships. An ACT or SAT score you must have. Keep in mind that scores provided in this section are for information purposes only.

GPA Calculation

To determine your GPA, use the following method: If your school provides both a weighted and unweighted GPA (or does not use a 4.00 scale), determine which will place you higher on this scale. The highest will be used to determine your eligibility for admission.

Class Rank Calculation

To calculate your class rank:

Find your numerical rank in your class.
Divide that number by the number of students in your class.
Subtract that number from one.
Multiply that number by 100.

For example: 1 - [(30 ÷ 400) x 100] = 92.50%.

GPA and Class Rank Example Calculation

The following is an example of how to calculate your GPA and class rank:

Determine your GPA using a 4.0 scale.
Determine your class rank.
Calculate your GPA equivalent using the following formula: 4 - [(class rank ÷ 25) x 4]

For example: 4 - [(30 ÷ 400) x 12 = 3.50].

Transfer Student Admission Requirements

If you have already begun your college education elsewhere, you will be considered a transfer student.

For students attending our open admissions campus in West Plains, MO, you can transfer back to the main Springfield campus with ease.

International Student Admission Requirements

International students have some additional requirements to consider when applying.

Name and Address

List your name exactly as it appears or will appear in your passport. Provide a permanent address outside of the United States.
