Monroe College, a for-profit private higher education institution established in 1933, has a campus in the Bronx that provides students with an urban experience. Monroe’s three-semester academic calendar provides students with the opportunity to complete their degrees at a steady, year-round pace. Rolling admissions, six starts each year, and online and on-campus classes are designed to accommodate working students who want to finish on a quicker timetable.

Career Pathways Program
Monroe knows that sometimes life gets in the way of education. With Monroe's Career Pathways program, students can get their high school equivalency while earning a college degree. Once accepted into Monroe’s Career Pathway program, students will be taking college classes immediately. Over the course of the first year, students will earn the 24 credits that New York state requires for a high school equivalency. Then, they’ll be just two semesters away from earning an associate degree.
Programs for International Students
Studying in a foreign country is exciting. Monroe offers a supportive environment to ensure the personal and academic success of international students. Monroe is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors in the student-college/university category.

Admission Requirements
General Admission Requirements
To apply to Monroe College, prospective students must fulfill several general admission requirements. These include:
- Essay: The essay is an opportunity for applicants to communicate their story in their own words, going beyond grades to showcase their personality and experiences.
- Official College Transcripts: Applicants must submit official college transcripts from all institutions previously attended. A transcript should be presented to admissions during the application process.
Additional Requirements for Clinical and Education Programs
The Clinical and Education programs have additional requirements for admission. The Clinical Admission Committee holistically reviews each applicant’s admission materials and selects the most highly qualified candidates for a limited number of seats. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into a program of study. Only applicants who meet the deadline will be considered for acceptance. In addition to the general admission requirements, clinical and education programs require an additional interview by designated program administration, faculty, and/or staff. Applicants who have met the admission requirements above will be eligible for an interview.
While Monroe University does not require proof of Covid vaccination from most members of the University community, there is a requirement for students in education, nursing, diagnostic medical sonography, and surgical technology programs. Applicants for some degree programs must demonstrate certain physical and technical abilities such as the ability to lift 40 or more pounds and the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Paralegal Certificate Program Admission
In addition to the general admissions requirements for the Paralegal Certificate Program, an earned associate degree or a minimum of 60 college credits is required. An exception may be made for candidates who exhibit significant work experience directly related to the program. Significant work experience includes at least five years of law-related experience in a law office, government agency, the court, or a corporation. Although not a requirement, an earned baccalaureate degree is preferred for acceptance into this certificate program. Generally, applicants will be asked to submit a writing sample and proof of degree with an official transcript.
Transfer Students
In addition to the general admissions requirements, transfer applicants seeking admission to certificate, associate, or bachelor's programs are required to submit transcripts from the post-secondary institution(s) previously attended. As a guideline, transfer applicants seeking direct admission to a bachelor’s program should possess a minimum major-area cumulative grade point average of 2.50.
