West ABE, a partnership between 17 community education programs, offers FREE adult basic education classes to develop basic skills for adults. These classes are designed for individuals 17 years and older who are not enrolled in high school. West ABE empowers adults to enhance their literacy, numeracy, and other essential skills, opening doors to new opportunities and personal fulfillment.
Opening Doors Program: Fostering Inclusion and Accessibility
MCE is committed to providing inclusive and accessible programs for all members of the community. The Opening Doors Program is specifically designed for individuals, age 16+, with disabilities, including physical disabilities. This program offers tailored support and opportunities for individuals to participate in community education activities.

Monticello Community Education rents out our schools classrooms, common areas, auditoriums, gymnasiums and pool. MCE facilities are available for a variety of uses, including:

Cancellation and Refund Policies
MCE is committed to providing quality programs and services. However, unforeseen circumstances may occasionally necessitate class cancellations.
- Class Cancellations by MCE: If we cancel a class, you will be notified and given a full refund.
- Class Cancellations by Participants: If you need to cancel a class, please notify the community education office 3 days prior to the beginning of the class to receive a refund minus a $3 processing fee, unless otherwise noted. No refunds will be given after the first night of class, or for the first weather-related closing. No refunds for trips or tours are given after the registration and payment deadline. If it is at least three business days before the class begins, you will get a refund (minus a processing fee of $5 for adult enrichment classes and $15 for summer youth programs).
