MSU offers graduates the convenience of accessing a digital diploma or certificate free of charge. This digital version provides an easily accessible and shareable record of your academic achievement.
Printed Diplomas and Certificates
In addition to the digital option, MSU provides printed diplomas and certificates upon graduation, if all graduation requirements have been met. These are typically available at the end of the semester of graduation.
Diploma Reissuance and Replacement
Ordering a Reissued Diploma or Certificate
If your original diploma is lost, damaged, or you require an updated version, you can order a reissued paper or digital diploma/certificate through Parchment. Parchment is a trusted platform for secure credential management.
Digital Diploma/Certificate via Parchment
The digital diploma/certificate obtained through Parchment is a Blue Ribbon Certified PDF, ensuring its authenticity and validity.

Fees Associated with Reissuance
While the initial digital diploma is free, reissued digital diplomas/certificates through Parchment may incur a charge. Contact Parchment for specific fee information.
Duplicate Diploma Request
To order a Duplicate Diploma, submit a Duplicate Diploma Request. A Duplicate Diploma is a replica of the original diploma. There is a $50 fee which can be paid by ACH, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. There is a $26.50 fee if shipped within the state of Michigan and $25.00 if shipped elsewhere. Fees can be paid by ACH, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. Please allow six to eight weeks for processing.

To order a Certified Document (transcript, degree verification, etc.) submit a Certified Document Request and include in the note section what type of document needs to be certified. There is a $26.50 fee if shipped within the state of Michigan and $25.00 if shipped elsewhere. Fees can be paid by ACH, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.

Legal Name Changes
In the event of a legal name change, it's essential to update your records with MSU. To change your legal name, please fill out the "Change of Student Information" form and include the necessary supporting documentation.

For students completing their spring graduation application and wanting their name included in the commencement program, the deadline is typically in the middle of Spring semester 2026.
