NAEA26 in Chicago: A Glimpse into the Future

Mark your calendars for March 5-7, 2026, as the NAEA National Convention heads to Chicago, IL. NAEA26 promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring keynote speakers who will spark new ideas and inspiration for your work as an artist and educator. Alongside hundreds of concurrent sessions, the NAEA26 Artist Series speakers will offer diverse perspectives and insights into the world of art education.

To support your attendance at NAEA26, a Letter of Support is available for presentation to administrators and institutions. Additionally, a Make Your Case Document can help you articulate the value of attending the convention. Scholarships are also available to help fund your professional learning experience.

Roots & Rhythms: The 2025 NAEA Conference in New Orleans

Before heading to Chicago, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of New Orleans, LA, from October 6-8, 2025, for the NAEA Conference: Roots & Rhythms. This conference offers a unique opportunity to engage with fellow educators and explore innovative practices in alternative education.

Learn from leading voices in alternative education through keynote speakers and participate in interactive breakout sessions tailored to your professional development. Arrive early and join pre-conference activities like the 'Shadows in the French Quarter Walking Tour' or network at the hosted 'Cocktails & Tales of the City' event.

Registration for the 2025 NAEA Conference is $650 for the full conference. Accommodations are available at the Sheraton New Orleans at a group rate of $229/night.

The NAEA holds its national conference in locations in various states throughout the United States in hopes of making it conducive for its membership to attend and enjoy a professional learning environment that is collaborative and inclusive to all. The location of the conference in no way indicates support or agreement with any specific state policies/laws that would violate the NAEA Mission and Vision or that would deny any individual the right to an inclusive, free and appropriate education and equitable opportunities to learn.

The 2025 event aligns content for each available breakout session with at least one of the NAEA's Exemplary Practices. With over 80+ breakout sessions offered and over 20 hours of CEU credits available, each session is intentionally crafted by alternative educators FOR alternative educators. The goal each year is to provide space to network, collaborate, and participate in professional learning specific to research and best practices in alternative/non-traditional education. A detailed schedule of events can be found below. Specific breakout session titles, descriptions and instructions for schedule building will be accessible (upon completion of registration) two weeks prior to the event's start date.
