National University Scholarships: A Guide to Requirements and Opportunities

National University is dedicated to making higher education affordable and accessible, offering a variety of scholarships and grants to support students in achieving their academic and professional goals. These awards are designed to supplement, but not replace, federal and state financial aid, employer tuition assistance, and student income. Admission and financial aid advisors are available to assist students in applying for University-funded awards, beginning with the initial step of applying to the university. National University’s awards are considered “last money” tuition scholarships. Awards are credited directly to the financial accounts of recipients. The number of scholarships disbursed depends upon the availability of allocated funds.

General Eligibility and Requirements

Several overarching requirements apply to many National University scholarships. For applicants using Federal Financial Aid (FFA), a scholarship award is considered financial assistance and counts toward the student’s cost of attendance. As such, the amount of FFA available to the student may be impacted. For the duration of the award, students must be succeeding in their degree program.

GPA Maintenance: Students generally need to maintain a certain GPA to remain eligible for scholarship funding. The student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students (excluding Juris Doctoral programs, which require a 2.4 cumulative GPA). Should a recipient fail to meet GPA requirements, they will be entered into a non-funded probationary period of 60 days.

Program Restrictions: Scholarship funds may only be applied to courses in the recipient’s original academic program following award of the scholarship, except in specific cases:

  1. The recipient opts to transfer to a new academic program prior to completion of 33% or more of the courses in the original academic program.
  2. The recipient opts to transfer to a new specialization within the original academic program prior to completion of 33% or more of the courses in the original specialization.

Scholarships are not otherwise transferable, although NU reserves the right to waive scholarship transferability to a new academic program on a case-by-case basis.
