Mastering Player Editing in College Football 25 Dynasty Mode
Player customization is a cornerstone of the College Football experience, especially within Dynasty mode, where players simulate long-term coaching careers. College Football 25 brings back the beloved franchise mode with deep customization options. One of the most anticipated features is the ability to edit players within Dynasty mode. Editing players allows you to correct inaccuracies, create custom recruits, or adjust team rosters for realism or fun. However, things have changed with College Football 25, though. Here are all the editing restrictions in EA College Football 25.
Accessing the Edit Player Screen
If you're new to editing players in Dynasty Mode or just need a refresher, here's a step-by-step guide on how to access the Edit Player screen in College Football 25:
- Navigate to the Team tab in the Dynasty Mode menu.
- Select View Roster and scroll through your team roster to find the player you want to edit.
- Click on View Player Card (Triangle on PS5 or Y on Xbox).
- Tab over to More and select Edit Player.
This menu allows you to make the desired changes to any player within the restrictions of NIL and non-NIL guidelines. Remember, you can also edit players from teams other than your own, although the same restrictions apply. For example, if you're controlling Alabama, you could edit Kansas State's roster as well, but you'll still need to adhere to the same rules.
Navigating the Editing Interface
To edit players in College Football 25 Dynasty mode, navigate to the 'Recruits' or 'Roster' section from the main menu, select the player you want to modify, and use the editing tools to change attributes such as name, position, ratings, and appearance.
- From the main Dynasty dashboard, go to Team Management > Roster.
- Use search filters by name, position, class year, or rating range.
- Choose Edit Player.
- Attributes: Adjust arm strength, speed, awareness, tackling, etc.
- Confirm edits and save.
Customization Options
College Football 25 includes a robust Create-A-Player system that allows full facial customization, including skin tone, hair, facial hair, accessories, and body type. Most personal and performance-related attributes are editable, though progression is balanced through class-based caps on ratings and skills.

- Appearance: Use the Appearance tab in the Edit Player menu to access sliders and presets. You can fully customize player appearances including facial features, skin tone, hair style, and accessories.
NIL vs. Non-NIL Players: Understanding the Restrictions
With the introduction of NIL, college players are lending their likeness to the game, so EA doesn’t want to provide a way for people to change that. Sure, gear can change, but things like height and speed can’t. There are a ton of editing restrictions for NIL players in College Football 25. If you aren’t familiar with NIL, it stands for “Name, Image, and Likeness” and it’s the right for college athletes to control and profit from their name. Mostly all players in College Football 25 are NIL players, leading to a ton of restrictions for editing them in the game.
NIL Players
Due to legal restrictions, NIL players have more limited options when it comes to customization. For real players, you’ll only be able to change their equipment. The only aspect of NIL players you can change is their gear. This means that for real-life players, such as Jalen Milroe, you'll be able to adjust their uniform and equipment, but nothing else, like ratings or positions, can be altered.
The Player Bio, Rating, Attributes, and Physique sections of Edit Player are completely off-limits and greyed out, meaning you can’t adjust anything within those categories. The only tab that is available for editing is Apparel, which includes purely cosmetic adjustments such as Hand Gear, Torso, Feet, etc.
Non-NIL Players
For non-NIL players, whether they are fake players on the base roster or new recruits, there are several elements you can change.
- Name: You can rename any non-NIL player.
- Position: Be cautious when changing a player's position, as this could remove their abilities. Switching a player back to their original position won't restore those lost abilities.
- Handedness: Adjust the player's dominant hand if needed.
- Ratings: You can tweak a player's stats to better reflect their skills or performance on the field.
- Appearance: This includes physique changes such as height, weight, and general body composition.
- Gear: You can modify the player's gear, which includes helmets, gloves, cleats, and more.
All these changes give you more control over how you want your team to look and play, allowing for deeper immersion in the game. Using CFB 25 Coins will help you unlock additional customization options, allowing you to fine-tune your roster to your preferences.

Finding Editable Players: The Loophole
If you want to have more freedom when editing a character in College Football 25 Dynasty Mode, then search around the roster until you find a player that allows it. More likely than not it is a player who is low on the roster, is fake, and isn’t actually on a real-world roster.
With the latest patch, EA introduced a loophole allowing users to edit some real players who are technically NIL players. These real players were likely added late to the game, and EA accidentally allowed their full editing. Since these players were initially created as "fake" players before transitioning to real ones, you can treat them like non-NIL players in terms of customization options. This loophole allows you to edit these real players' names, positions, ratings, and appearance-something that typically isn't allowed for NIL players. Be aware, though, that this loophole might be patched in future updates, so take advantage of it while you can. Keep an eye on community forums or online guides for lists of which real players are affected by this glitch.
For example, I found a Fullback named Kendall Tobias-Mobley on Missouri, who doesn’t seem to be a real-life player, and I was able to edit almost everything about him. The only exception was that I couldn’t edit School, Uniform Number, Handedness, Hometown, or State. Everything else was fair game, though.
Attribute Ranges and Their Impact
The table below shows typical attribute ranges for key positions in College Football 25.
| Attribute | Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Defensive Lineman | Linebacker | Cornerback | Safety |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arm Strength | 70-99 | 20-50 | 30-60 | 20-40 | 20-40 | 20-40 | 20-40 |
| Speed | 50-85 | 75-99 | 80-99 | 40-70 | 65-90 | 80-99 | 75-95 |
| Awareness | 75-99 | 70-95 | 70-95 | 60-85 | 70-95 | 70-95 | 70-95 |
| Tackling | 20-40 | 30-60 | 20-40 | 70-99 | 75-99 | 60-85 | 70-95 |
Awareness is consistently high among top performers regardless of position, while speed and position-specific skills like arm strength or catching define role suitability. Edited attributes directly influence how NFL Draft advisors rate players.

Preserving Edits and Long-Term Impact
All edits made in Dynasty mode-including ratings, appearance, and eligibility-are preserved between seasons. Any stat or attribute changes made during a player’s college career persist if they enter the transfer portal or get drafted. Absolutely.
Transfer Portal
Once a player enters the transfer portal, you can edit their profile before they commit to another school.
Draft Implications
Edited attributes directly influence how NFL Draft advisors rate players. You can manually input 247Sports or Rivals-ranked recruits by editing names, ratings, and commitments.
Limitations and Considerations
One limitation in College Football 25 is the absence of a roster-sharing feature. No official bulk editor is available at launch. Each player must be edited individually. Currently, EA Sports does not support bulk editing or CSV imports. Each player must be edited individually. Any edits you make to your roster will be locked to your specific dynasty, meaning you won't be able to upload or share your edited roster with other players. This makes it important to carefully consider your edits, as they will only be available in your saved game. For those who enjoy tweaking and perfecting rosters, this limitation could be frustrating, but it also adds a level of personalization to each user's experience. You can create your own unique football universe within your Dynasty Mode, controlling both your roster and your opponents.
Some attributes are locked due to game balance rules, especially for highly rated recruits or All-Americans.
The Future of Player Editing
As of August 29th, 2024, gamers will be able to change ratings and other characteristics for AI-generated recruits and non-NIL players. So, if someone works hard to land a 5-star recruit, they’ll be able to alter things about them by heading to the “Edit Player” option in the player card. There’s still no way to edit NIL players, but once a Dynasty gets a few seasons in, there won’t be any left, meaning all of the players will be editable. This is a huge change and will open the door for a lot of flexibility in Dynasty mode. And to ensure that the feature is available, gamers should make sure that College Football 25 is updated to its latest version.
