How Home Teams Are Determined
For the first-round games, the highest-seeded team is designated as the home team. In subsequent games, the home team is determined by a formula applied by the games committee. For Game 1, the better-seeded team will be the home team. The lower-seeded team will be the home team in Game 2.
In a super regional matchup of two national seeds, a coin flip determines the home team for Game 1. The loser of the coin flip is the home team in Game 2, and a second coin flip determines the home team in Game 3, if necessary. These coin flips must occur during the pretournament meeting.
Team Breakdowns
Here's a closer look at each team participating in the Baton Rouge Regional:
1. LSU Tigers
LSU enters the tournament as a national title contender. The Tigers rank top 30 nationally in nearly every key offensive category, including slugging (.514), home runs (90), and wRC+ (119). The lineup is deep and balanced, with production throughout the order. Jared Jones (.333/.435/.645, 19 HR, 66 RBI) is a centerpiece, surrounded by high-contact threats like Derek Curiel, Daniel Dickinson, Jake Brown, and Ethan Frey, all of whom are slugging over .500 with batting averages north of .315.
On the mound, LSU boasts one of the most dominant staffs in the country. They rank third nationally in strikeout rate (30.3%), fifth in K-BB%, and own the No. 2 FIP (4.41). Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson provide a strong one-two punch, while Zac Cowan (2.38 ERA, 1.04 WHIP in 45.1 IP) and Casan Evans (0.64 ERA) anchor a bullpen with elite swing-and-miss potential. While the Tigers give up a few too many walks, they are hard to beat when throwing strikes. In their first game of the regional, Anthony Eyanson pitched 7.2 scoreless innings, recording seven strikeouts.

2. Dallas Baptist Patriots
Dallas Baptist might be the most dangerous two-seed in the field. The Patriots pair gaudy offensive outputs with a steady pitching staff capable of navigating a regional. They rank top 25 nationally in nearly every offensive category-11th in slugging, 16th in home runs, 14th in wRC+-and boast a relentless top six in the order.
Nathan Humphreys (.360/.465/.692, 17 HR), Grant Jay (.322/.458/.688, 19 HR), and Chayton Krauss (.344/.420/.628, 14 HR) headline a lineup that rarely gives away at-bats and punishes mistakes with real power. On the mound, DBU doesn’t have overpowering frontline arms, but the group is experienced and effective. Ryan Borberg (3.38 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) gives the Patriots stability at the top, and Micah Bucknam and James Ellwanger bring swing-and-miss upside despite some control issues.
3. Rhode Island Rams
Rhode Island brings one of the most dangerous offenses in the field, led by Anthony DePino, who’s hitting .359 with 19 home runs and a .733 slugging percentage. The Rams rank top 10 nationally in runs per game and back it up with elite on-base skills and depth-four other regulars have OBPs over .440.
On the mound, their fortunes hinge on Trystan Levesque, who has been steady with a 3.25 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 88.2 innings. Rhody earned the Atlantic 10's automatic bid to the tournament, winning its third league title in program history on Saturday afternoon at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va. URI went 3-0 as the top seed at the Atlantic 10 Championship, having won the regular season, with wins over No. 4 Davidson (5-3) and No. 3 Saint Louis (8-2) before clinching the title with a 4-1 victory against No. 2 George Mason.
4. Little Rock Trojans
Little Rock ranks 244th in runs per game, 202nd in home runs, and 235th in slugging percentage, with a .271 team batting average that sits 200th nationally. The Trojans walk at a 9.4% clip and strike out 19% of the time.
