EA Sports College Football 25: A New Era of Gridiron Glory
After a decade-long hiatus, the beloved college football video game franchise is making a triumphant return with EA Sports College Football 25. This revival has generated immense excitement among fans who have eagerly awaited the chance to relive the glory days of NCAA Football. While the game retains the core elements that made the series so popular, it also introduces several changes and enhancements that reflect the evolution of college football itself. From the iconic stadiums to the electrifying gameplay, EA Sports College Football 25 aims to set a new standard for college football greatness.
Authentic Immersion: Iconic Atmospheres and Soundscapes
EA Sports College Football 25 strives to deliver an unparalleled level of authenticity, immersing players in the vibrant world of college football. Iconic atmospheres are meticulously recreated, from the deafening roar of The Big House to the fervent energy of The Swamp and the passionate traditions of Tuscaloosa to the spirited environment of College Station. Authentic soundscapes further enhance the immersion, capturing the unique sounds and rituals that define each stadium.
Explosive Gameplay: CampusIQ and Wear & Tear
At the heart of EA Sports College Football 25 lies explosive gameplay powered by CampusIQ, an innovative system designed to provide an authentic and fast-paced college football experience. The all-new composure system adds a layer of realism, challenging players to manage their team's emotions under pressure. The Wear & Tear system introduces a strategic element, as players must account for the physical toll on their athletes throughout the game. Homefield advantages play a significant role, rattling rivals in college football's toughest places to play. Dozens of diverse playstyles across all 134 FBS teams ensure that each game feels unique.
The Wear & Tear System
The new Wear & Tear system is a game-changer. As the hits add up, players wear down, impacting their performance and increasing the risk of injury. Not all hits are equal; bigger hits to certain body parts, indicated by orange and red on the play screen, increase the chance of injury. A player's Strength attribute determines how much impact they can take, making player selection and management crucial.
Pre-Snap Recognition
Pre-Snap Recognition adds another layer of strategy, making every decision behind the snap matter more. Players must decide whether to trust their high-skill seniors or take a risk with untested freshmen. Senior quarterbacks can decipher more complex defensive schemes, such as potential blitzes, than their younger counterparts.

Dynasty Mode: Build a College Football Powerhouse
Dynasty mode, a beloved feature of the NCAA Football franchise, returns in EA Sports College Football 25, allowing players to guide a school and athletic program through decades of competition. Players can create a coach, take control of a program, upgrade their abilities, and build a powerhouse college football dynasty. The newest installment allows you to take full control over your recruiting, starting with setting up a board and scouts that will maximize certain recruiting pipelines. While the mode includes new and returning features, players are capped at 30 seasons of Dynasty play. The transfer portal is also featured in College Football 25, for both college athletes and coaches alike. Players can set their schedules and adjust conferences.
Road to Glory: Live the Life of a Student-Athlete
Road to Glory mode allows players to live the life of a student-athlete, guiding their created player through a college career and striving to win the Heisman Trophy while building an unforgettable college football legacy. Fortunately, the rest of Road to Glory offers an extensive 10-20 hour story mode as well as a variety of features unique to a college athlete’s career (including the transfer portal).
Ultimate Team: Build Your Dream Team
In Ultimate Team mode, players can build their dream team of college football stars and legends. Players can participate in Solo Challenges or H2H Seasons to upgrade their squad and take on the toughest contests.
NIL and Real Player Inclusion
Thanks to a sweeping series of NIL-based agreements, EA Sports College Football 25 features the names and likenesses of numerous real college football players. Players have the option to opt into the game, for which they will receive $600 and a copy of the game when it releases. While players can create and add custom players, they cannot manually add players who have not signed the required NIL deal.
Commentary and Presentation
EA Sports College Football 25 features multiple commentary teams, with Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit calling the biggest games. While the College GameDay program is not included, the game still delivers an authentic broadcast experience.

Customization and Playbooks
While EA Sports College Football 25 may not offer the extensive customization features of previous NCAA games, it still allows players to customize numerous aspects of their teams and players. The playbooks have always differentiated college football games from Madden, and that’s the case again. College Football 25 has 134 different playbooks, part of 10 different offensive styles. There are different menus for plays, ranging from coach suggestions to formations to concepts and more.
What's Missing? Mascot Mashup, High School Careers, and More
Despite the excitement surrounding EA Sports College Football 25, some longtime NCAA Football fans may be disappointed by the absence of certain legacy features. The much-beloved Mascot Mashup mode will not return. Additionally, Road to Glory mode will not allow players to begin their careers in high school.
The Sounds and Visuals
The pageantry and the environments are what really separate college football from every other sport, and the video game reflects that. EA Sports said it went through more than 1,000 photos per school to create 150 different stadiums. There are 16,000 different head combinations for players, including 240 shapes. The game took so long to make because it had to be created from scratch. The average team has four helmets, three jerseys and three pants. Some have 20-plus options (hello, Oregon). You can see all the individual stitching in the jerseys because EA Sports employs a Creaform 3D handheld scanner that’s normally used for aerospace parts. Here, it’s used to scan cleats, gloves, helmets, jerseys and more, down to the tiniest detail. While NFL players have mostly the same equipment, college football has different apparel companies with unique designs. Those differences are noticeable in this game. The crowds are also unique. Michigan fans have the maize pom-poms. Missouri fans have the tiger tails. There are unique hand signs and Surrender Cobras. The student sections are positioned correctly, and we were told those fans will be seen standing during the game. Opposing fans and bands are also positioned in the correct spots in stadiums. As for in-progress renovated stadiums, Vanderbilt is shown post-renovation, but Northwestern still plays at Ryan Field. Kansas’ stadium will be pre-renovation at game launch.Penn State has the White Out. Tennessee has the checkerboard. Boise State has the Stripe Out. Even the Texas A&M red, white and blue crowd after 9/11 is in the game - I’m not sure how that one activates, but special crowd colors will happen for the biggest games in Dynasty mode. We were told some teams have called EA Sports to let them know of crowd blackout plans later this season to be included in the game.
What makes this game feel as real as anything is the sound. You really notice it when music kicks in after the opening kickoff. While “Enter Sandman” is not in the game, “Zombie Nation,” “Sandstorm,” “Tsunami” and “Mo Bamba” are. We see the Army Corps of Cadets jump up and down for “Tsunami” before kickoff, something the TV broadcast rarely shows. Beaver Stadium plays “Zombie Nation” after Penn State touchdowns. Every school has unique fan chants, as EA acquired thousands of assets from schools and in many cases had staff members replicate the cheers for recording. The studio also recorded 41 real game crowds over the last two years, from big to small programs. And yes, I saw sheet music for an instrumental version of “Neck.”
