Course Structure and Content
The NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals provides learners with the knowledge and skills to reduce risk, control hazards, and improve health and safety culture. On completion of the qualification, you will be able to:

The NEBOSH National Diploma takes around 335 hours to complete (191 taught hours, plus 144 recommended self-study hours).
Assessment
The qualification units are assessed in the following way:

- Unit DN1: An assignment split over two papers (both papers must be submitted at the same sitting).
- Paper 1 covers simulation questions.
- Paper 2 covers workplace activities, reflective tasks, and a research project.
- To complete the Unit DN1 assessment, learners need to have access to a suitable workplace/organisation, to undertake some workplace-based activities. Students are required to perform a review of the existing systems for managing health and safety in a workplace. The assignment must be carried out in the student’s workplace. Where no access to a suitable workplace is available, the accredited course provider should be consulted to assist in this regard. Students can submit their DNI assignment report in the months of February, May, August and November.

Each assessment is a substantial undertaking. NEBOSH anticipates that it will take you around 40 hours to complete the DI1 assignment and 20 hours each for the DI2 and DI3 case studies. All assessments will be checked via Turnitin plagiarism software and you will be required to have a closing interview with after each assessment.
The written paper in this exam is now an OBE (Open Book Examination), completed Online via the Internet.

Entry Requirements
No formal entry requirements exist to enrol on to this NEBOSH National Diploma Course. Not only does this greatly improve a students’ potential end-result, but students may also be examined on certificate level 3 knowledge covered in the general certificate. Questions within NEBOSH examinations are all phrased in English.
It is strongly recommended learners have undertaken the NEBOSH (International or National) General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. The syllabus assumes that learners will have this level of prior learning.

If you reside outside of the United Kingdom, you must study the NEBOSH International Diploma as this covers international best practices. The International Diplomas omits the requirements of UK Law and Legislation.
Professional Recognition and Accreditation
Holders of the NEBOSH National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals will now be eligible for certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) upon completion of the CRST examination. For those with greater workplace experience and additional qualifications, the BCRSP is offering a streamlined route to Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification for people with a NEBOSH National or International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Members of the Saiosh can now upgrade from Technical membership (TechSaiosh) to Graduate Membership (GradSaiosh) using the NEBOSH International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals to meet the membership level’s academic requirements.
The International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals is recognized as a Qualified Equivalent Program (QEP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), meeting the qualified credential requirement for the Transitional Safety Practitioner (TSP) certification.
This qualification is now accredited by Ofqual and, following changes to IOSH’s accreditation criteria, we re-applied for IOSH recognition. NEBOSH can confirm that the NEBOSH Level 6 National and International Diplomas meet the academic requirements to apply for IOSH membership at the appropriate grade.
The NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals (2023 specification) has been accredited and credit rated by Ofqual at RQF Level 6 with 42 credits.
