Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Program

The Army Nurse Corps Association does not have an official relationship with the US Army, the Army Nurse Corps or the Reserve Officer Training Corps.

What is a Critical Shortage Facility?
A critical shortage facility is a public or private health care facility located in, designated as, or serving a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). Service Commitment Duration
You must serve full-time (or part-time equivalent) for at least two years after you finish school.
Fulfilling the Service Obligation
Participants must serve at an eligible health care facility and in the discipline-registered nurse (RN) or nurse practitioner (NP)-for which funds were awarded.
Maintaining Compliance During School
While in school, scholarship recipients must meet certain requirements to remain in good standing with the program:
- Complete the Nursing Program: Successfully finish the nursing program.
- Verify Enrollment Status: Confirm enrollment each term through My BHW.
- School Official Certification: Have a school official certify enrollment status.
- Transcript Submission: Upload a transcript for each term to My BHW after the add/drop date, showing courses and credit hours.
Contractual Obligations and Termination
The Nurse Corps Scholarship is a contractual agreement. Understanding the terms and conditions is crucial.

Contract Period
The contract includes the academic year(s) in which a scholarship was received. Funding cannot be deferred and must be used in consecutive academic terms. Any funding received after the end of the academic year constitutes another contract year.
Ending the Contract

How to End the Contract
Submit a written request to terminate the contract for that academic year. Repay all amounts paid to (or on behalf of) the applicant for that academic year, including all amounts paid for pretax tuition, stipends, and other reasonable costs.
Consequences of Termination
If the contract is terminated, there is no service obligation for that school year. However, service is still required for any years in which scholarship funds were received.
Failure to Meet Termination Requirements
If the requirements to end the contract are not met, the contract remains in effect, and the service obligation must be fulfilled.
Continuation Award
Recipients may be eligible for a Nurse Corps Scholarship Program Continuation award for the same nursing degree as their original contract.
Requesting a Continuation Award
To request additional scholarship support for subsequent academic years, submit a signed contract for that academic year and a report verifying acceptable academic standing. Reapplication for scholarship support is not required.
