Oak Park Fundamental Learning Academy (OPFLA) is a center-based daycare dedicated to providing a welcoming and enriching experience for children and their families. The academy focuses on building healthy, trustworthy relationships that foster lifelong friendships and lay the foundation for a love of learning. OPFLA aims to empower children and families to be successful in learning and life. The vision is to be nationally recognized as an outstanding childcare center, staying true to goals of nurturing children’s social and emotional abilities.

A Home Away From Home

OPFLA offers a "home away from home" where children can discover the world, have fun, and develop in a safe environment. Teachers and support staff are committed to helping each child develop to their maximum potential every day. The academy's core values include quality care, learning and development, family support, and safety and happiness. OPFLA nurtures children through their critical early years, and strives to be an integral part of parents’ support networks, pursuing excellence through a solid educational environment and creating happy memories in a joyful environment.

Programs by Age Group

OPFLA offers programs tailored to specific age groups, each with its own set of goals and activities.

Infant/Toddler Program (Ages 10 months - 15 months)

Goal: Bottles Away, Sippy Cups Hooray!

This program is designed to captivate curiosity. OPFLA’s infant/toddlers have learned to adapt to their environment and are on the move. Caregivers are devoted to supporting social-emotional growth, fostering communication, and promoting new motor skills. Whether it's jumping, climbing, walking, saying their first words, or feeding themselves, infant/toddlers will continue to flourish while learning togetherness.

Toddler 1 Program (Ages 16 months - 23 months)

Goal: Walking Into Independence!

The toddler 1 program provides fun activities through learning, such as water play, painting, stacking blocks, and being introduced to textured materials. The goal is to encourage toddlers to explore their environment, understand simple commands, recognize basic emotions, and begin to use language as a form of communication.

Toddler 2 Program (Ages 2 years - 3 years)

Goal: It’s Potty Time!

The main achievement for the toddler 2 program is to get children comfortable and ready to use the potty. Caregivers also focus on building their communication skills so that they extend their vocabulary. The toddler 2 program is set up to help the children’s physical abilities blossom, allowing them to engage in activities that promote movement and physical development.

Preschool 3s Program (Ages 3 years - 4 years)

Goal: Preschool 3s, Learning Is The Key!

The preschool 3 program influences the concept of “moving up the ladder,” with continuous support in learning foundational skills. These skills include, but are not limited to, cognitive and emotional development. Preschoolers should be able to follow directions, learn to make friends, use complete sentences, and understand responsibility. Caregivers prepare them for their next journey to Pre-K.

Pre-K Program (Ages 4 years - 5 years)

Goal: We’re The Graduates, Reaching New Heights!

The pre-k program is primarily focused on the children’s readiness for Kindergarten. Caregivers assist the children with this process by embedding a wider range of fundamental skills. The key elements that nurture these skills are language literacy, basic math, science exploration, social studies, art, music, and movement. OPFLA aspires to let pre-k students spread their wings.
