Internship Details
Duration: The OIST Internship typically lasts between 2 and 6 months, with a standard duration of 10 to 12 weeks. Extensions are not granted. The OIST Internship 2025 will run between October 1st, 2025 - March 31st, 2026.

Financial Support
The OIST Internship Program is fully funded, ensuring that participants can focus on their research without financial burden. The following support is provided to successful applicants:
- Internship Allowance: JPY 2,400 per working day (non-taxable, weekends excluded).
- Commuting Allowance: OIST Shuttle Bus Pass.
- Travel Expenses: One direct round-trip air ticket (travel date will be the closest date to the term of placement).
- Accommodation: Furnished apartment on or off-campus.
OIST also assists with visa acquisition, insurance procedures, and local registration for the student.

Recommendation Letters: At least one recommendation letter from an academic or research professional familiar with your work is required; you can submit up to three letters. Academic Transcript: A scan of your current academic transcript in PDF format must be uploaded.

Research Interns who belong to a Japanese university/institution are required to prepare and bring their insurance when accepted to the OIST Research Internship program.
