The University of Mississippi, affectionately known as Ole Miss, provides a comprehensive online portal called myOleMiss for students to manage various aspects of their academic life. This guide will provide you with essential information on how to navigate the Ole Miss online systems, access resources, and stay informed about important university policies and procedures.

Getting Started: Your WebID and myOleMiss

Your WebID is a crucial piece of information. It contains letters from your first and last name and sometimes numbers. It serves as your unique identification number for accessing online services at Ole Miss and is different from your undergraduate application number. Make sure you save your WebID and password someplace safe.

Accessing myOleMiss:

MyOleMiss is your central hub for official University of Mississippi services and information. To access it:

Go to the myOleMiss web portal.
Click on "WebID Help/Password."
Select "I am unable to login to myOleMiss."
Enter your Student ID number and Birthdate to set up your password.

For security reasons, your password will expire every three months.

Blackboard

Blackboard is the digital platform used to administer courses. Your professor will upload the course syllabus, readings, homework, quizzes, exams, assignments, group work, announcements, etc. on this platform. It is vital for you to get familiar with Blackboard prior to the beginning of your course.

Email

All official communication from the university, including important announcements and updates from professors, will be sent to your Ole Miss email address. Check your email regularly to stay informed.

Student Housing Portal

All freshmen are required to live in Student Housing their first year at Ole Miss. Learn more about the student housing application (for both freshmen and transfers) including important dates at studenthousing.olemiss.edu.

Edblogs

All WRIT 100, 101, and 102 classes use Edblogs sites for course reflection. Your teacher will provide the assignment details, which may vary from class to class. Some WRIT classes use Class Blogs, while others use Blog Subscriptions for this assignment. Your teacher will let you know which method he or she is using. Once your site is created, you need to join your teacher’s class blog. Search for your class blog by entering just the last part of your class blog’s URL. This means you will have access to both the class blog and your student blog dashboard. Once your site is created, you need to add your teacher as a subscriber. Enter your teacher’s username in the field.

Key Tasks You Can Perform Online

MyOleMiss allows you to perform a variety of essential tasks online, including:

Paying bills online. my.olemiss.edu is the UM portal for students to do lots of things once on campus, like pay bills online. Tuition and other expenses are charged to your UM bursar account. The UM Office of the Bursar’s will bill you one time at the beginning of the semester. Students will need to pay their bursar bill after accepting scholarships.
Registering for classes. New students register for classes at Orientation, while returning students should use myOleMiss within their priority registration timeline. Find registration dates, your priority registration status, course load limits, and the steps to secure your classes.
Accessing your transcripts. Current or recently enrolled students can access unofficial transcripts through myOleMiss.
Viewing grades. You can view grades using your myOleMiss account.
Accepting scholarship awards. Students will need to accept their scholarship award(s) upon availability. Choose the appropriate period and undergraduate year.

Important Information for International Students

International students have specific requirements and resources available to them.

Visa Process: Submit documentation to start the visa process.
TB Screening: All international students are required to be screened for TB. Your international student advisor will schedule an appointment at the Health Center for your TB test after you arrive in person on campus.
Travel Plans: The closest international airport is Memphis, Tennessee (MEM). We recommend that you fly into Memphis to get to Oxford, Mississippi. Other airports are much farther away, and we do not recommend that you chose another airport. Transportation to the campus will be difficult if you choose another airport. The Office of Global Engagement offers a free bus from the Memphis International Airport (MEM) on the official arrival day!
I-20 Form: Pay attention to the "Earliest Admission Date" and the "Program Start/End Date" listed on your I-20.

Registration

New students register for classes at Orientation, while returning students should use myOleMiss within their priority registration timeline. Final Exams

Final exam schedules are determined by the time your class meets. If you have three or more exams in one day, consult with your instructor to discuss possible rescheduling options. View the final exam schedule for your specific exam time and any important instructions.

Course Forgiveness & Exclusion

If you didn’t perform well in a course, you may have options to adjust your transcript and improve your GPA. Learn about the forgiveness policy and the process for repeating courses or excluding a grade at Ole Miss.

Academic Dishonesty

The University of Mississippi expects students to conduct themselves with the basic value of honesty and to follow the Creed of the University of Mississippi. Dishonesty, cheating, plagiarism, or knowingly furnishing false information to the university are regarded as particularly serious offenses. Faculty members together with their academic units will determine appropriate sanctions for academic dishonesty. Possible sanctions include but are not limited to: failure on the work in question, retake of an examination, extra work, grade reduction or failure in the course, disciplinary probation, or suspension or expulsion from the university. Students who commit academic dishonesty will be dismissed from the program without reimbursement or credits.

Student Right to Know

The Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act mandates that universities provide statistics and information on retention and graduation rates, available financial aid, campus crime statistics, athletic program participation, and key institutional data, including costs, accreditation, services for disabled students, and withdrawal policies.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

FERPA gives students the right to access and review their educational records, request corrections, control certain disclosures of their information, and file complaints if they believe their rights are violated. The university does not automatically release grades to parents due to FERPA requirements.

Student Disability Services

Housing

The University of Mississippi has a freshman residency requirement, so all new freshmen must live on campus. In order to book a space on campus, you must activate your WebID and complete the housing application. Check out our residence halls!

Student ID Card

A student identification card is recommended for students taking live, in-person courses during the fall, spring or summer sessions, but it is not required. Residential students are required to have a University of Mississippi ID card for the duration of their program. This card will give you access to your residence hall, your room, your meal plan and access to many other buildings on campus. You will receive your ID card at registration.

Transportation and Parking

Ole Miss offers a variety of transportation options. If you will be driving to campus and parking for class, please register your vehicle each semester with the Parking and Transportation Services Department.
