Navigating Oregon State University: A Comprehensive Guide to the Campus Map

Oregon State University (OSU) is dedicated to creating an accessible and intuitive navigation experience for everyone across its various locations. The university is undertaking a transformative effort to enhance navigation for students, faculty, staff, and visitors through the Accessible Campus Map project, a cross-university collaboration. This initiative reflects OSU's commitment to providing a seamless and inclusive digital environment for all.

OSU aims to make the new Accessible Campus Map available before the end of the Spring 2025 academic term.

Historical Campus Maps

The Oregon State University Campus Maps document the development of the Oregon State campus from the 1890s through the 1990s. The initial land for the current Oregon State University campus in Corvallis, Oregon, was purchased in 1871. The collection includes campus guides and visitor maps, detailed surveys, campus plans, and maps showing buildings, roads, and walkways. Maps from this collection have been digitized and are available online in Oregon Digital. This collection is open for research and consists of materials that were transferred from the Oregon State University Libraries' maps collection as well as the Special Collections & Archives Research Center's Memorabilia Collection in 2012-2014.

Interactive Campus Map

OSU's interactive campus map allows users to locate buildings, parking lots, points of interest, and much more from a computer or mobile device. OSU's interactive campus map offers significantly more information and functionality than a printed map or non-affiliated online map. Locations on the map are conveniently organized by category and subcategory. A location can be a building, structure, landmark, or other point-of-interest. Each location can include one or multiple images and a detailed description with links for more information.

Navigating the Interactive Map

To begin, click a category to expand and view all subcategories and locations under that category. When you click on a location’s title, you'll see that the location is identified with a marker and the map will focus on that location. Clicking a checkbox next to a category or subcategory title will show all of the corresponding locations on the map. To search for locations, use the search box in the top left-hand corner of the desktop view. Tapping the checkbox for a category or tapping a location title will highlight the locations on the map. Collapse the main index to see locations selected. Details about a location can be found by tapping on the location marker. Follow your path line to get to your end location!

Sharing Map Views

To share your current map view, desktop users can click on the share icon located in the upper right corner of the screen. Mobile users will find the icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. This will create and copy a URL that you can share with someone. While you have a location's information panel open, the share icon will be in the upper left corner (of both desktop and mobile screens).

Construction Layer

The new construction layer on the Oregon State University Campus Map helps the OSU community navigate around active construction zones and provides a description and links to additional information and details about each project. From infrastructure updates to transformative projects like the Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex, the construction layer brings visibility to the work shaping the future of the Corvallis campus.
