Tuition and Payment Policies

Quarterly Billing and Due Dates

Tuition at Perry Technical Institute is billed on a quarterly basis and is generally due at the start of each program quarter. This structure allows students to manage their payments in manageable installments, aligning with the academic calendar.

Tuition Payment Plan (TPP)

An optional Tuition Payment Plan (TPP) is available to students, which may be subject to a fee and late charges. For most programs, the TPP allows a maximum of three payments over the term. However, the Professional Truck Driving program has a payment plan with payments due the first, third, and fourth week of the program. Failure to comply with the TPP may result in removal from class.

Delinquent Accounts and Collection

In the event a student’s account is delinquent, Perry Tech may refer the account to a collection agency. If this occurs, a collection fee will be assessed, calculated at the maximum amount permitted by applicable law, but not exceeding 33.3% of the amount outstanding. This fee is due in full at the time of the referral to the third party, which may be a debt collection company or an attorney.

If a lawsuit is filed to recover an outstanding balance, the student is responsible for any costs associated with the lawsuit, such as court costs or other applicable costs. The delinquent student account may also be reported to one or more of the national credit bureaus, which can impact a student's credit score.

Returned Check Fee

A charge of $32 is assessed each time a student’s check is returned by a bank withholding payment. This fee covers the administrative costs associated with processing returned checks.

Refund Policy

Perry Tech has a clear refund policy to protect students' financial interests. The school will refund all money paid if the applicant is not enrolled. In rare instances where a starting class is cancelled by the school, the school will also refund all money paid.

If training is terminated after the student enters class the school will retain 100% of all assessed fees with the exception of lab fees. The training completion percentage is calculated by dividing the number of scheduled class days through the date of student’s termination by the total number of scheduled class days in the term. When calculating refunds, the official date of a student’s termination is the last actual date of recorded attendance.

Mandatory Fees and Additional Costs

All fees listed are mandatory and required for the completion of the program. Additional certifications and field trips are optional, and costs are assessed separately. Programs may also have additional continuing education costs that are required for licensing and/or job placement. Grants

The amount of Federal Pell Grant funds a student may receive over his or her lifetime is limited by a new federal law to be the equivalent of six years of Pell Grant funding.

Washington State Opportunity Grant

Students must apply for the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) Opportunity Grant by filling out and submitting an application to the Financial Aid Office.

Washington Worker Retraining (WRT) Program

The Washington Worker Retraining (WRT) Program plays a major role in Washington State's economic development by providing funds for eligible dislocated and unemployed workers in training or retraining that will assist them in regaining employment. CARES Act Funding

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act was passed by Congress and signed into law to provide economic relief from COVID-19. PTI was awarded $983,818 authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES).

CRRSSA/ARP/SSARP

PTI will prioritize students with exceptional need (such as those receiving Pell grants). To prioritize students with exceptional need, the Financial Aid Office will use a sliding scale to determine the award amount and automatically apply the funds to the student account for payment (no application is required). PTI has developed the sliding scale by using the 19-20 Pell distribution table as a guide, therefore resulting in the use of the students most recent EFC to determine the amount of award for each student. Funds were allocated to each EFC level to provide all eligible students an opportunity to receive a grant as all eligible students have been impacted by the Coronavirus. Originally for students that did not have a FAFSA the student had to apply for the grant and provide supporting citizenship documentation. Due to recent guidance the requirement to provide citizenship has been removed and students without a FAFSA will be contacted by the Financial Aid office to determine their award amount. During campus closure, the Financial Aid office worked remotely and responded to student’s questions/inquiries regarding HEERF funds.

Student Accounts Services
