Nurturing Foundations: Exploring the Primrose Schools Infant Curriculum
Primrose Schools, founded in 1982, stand as a leading provider of premier early education and care, operating across 300 schools in 25 states. Each school is independently owned and operated by Franchise Owners. These owners collaborate with parents, focusing on building a strong foundation for children's future learning and life, while creating an environment where children can enjoy themselves while nurturing Active Minds, Healthy Bodies and Happy Hearts®. Primrose offers Franchise Owners an industry-leading proprietary early education blueprint and delivery model, as well as financial security, autonomy and a sense of purpose.
The Significance of the Infant Curriculum
The first year of a child's life plays a crucial role in shaping their future success. Recognizing this, Primrose Schools have developed an infant curriculum designed to foster Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts® through a nurturing and caring environment. A key component of this approach is providing plenty of cuddles, creating a secure and loving space for infants to thrive.
Key Elements of the Infant Curriculum
The Primrose Schools infant curriculum encompasses several key areas of development, each carefully designed to support the unique needs of this age group:
Literacy Development
Early literacy skills are introduced through engaging activities that expose infants to language in a meaningful way. Teachers use age-appropriate books, songs, and rhymes to stimulate language development and foster a love of reading from an early age.
Communication and Vocabulary Skills
Developing effective communication skills is essential for infants to express their needs and interact with the world around them. The curriculum focuses on expanding infants' vocabulary through consistent interaction, naming objects, and responding to their vocalizations. This helps infants better express their needs.

Gross Motor Skills and Sensory Development
The infant curriculum incorporates activities that promote the development of gross motor skills, such as crawling, rolling, and eventually walking. Sensory development is also emphasized through activities that engage infants' senses of sight, touch, hearing, and smell, utilizing concrete sensory experiences.
Emotional Well-being
Creating a secure and nurturing environment is paramount for infants' emotional well-being. Teachers provide consistent care, respond sensitively to infants' needs, and foster a sense of trust and security.
Wonder Time: Personalized Care and Instruction
Primrose Schools utilize integrated, authentic learning experiences known as Wonder Time to introduce and reinforce educational concepts. Wonder Time is personalized to meet the individual needs and developmental stages of each child.
For younger children, Wonder Time is based on concrete sensory experiences such as seeing, touching, hearing, and smelling, and is embedded into individual routines.
