Riverside City College (RCC) offers a wide variety of continuing education courses designed to help you succeed at work, get a promotion, start a new career, or simply enrich your life. These courses, also known as Extended Learning or noncredit classes, provide fast, flexible, and accessible learning opportunities for community members aged 18 and older.

What are RCC Continuing Education Courses?

RCC Continuing Education courses are designed to provide accessible and enriching opportunities for personal growth and community engagement. Unlike credit courses that contribute towards a degree, these noncredit courses focus on specific skills and knowledge to enhance your abilities and open new doors.

Who Can Enroll?

Any community member 18 years or older can take noncredit courses. Completing the Noncredit Application is required for all students. The RCC Application can only enroll in Extended Learning (noncredit) classes. The application process is streamlined, without restrictions on Social Security Number (SSN), Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), age, residency, or citizenship. The college application does not ask for residency status. However, completing the application does not ask for residency status.

Application and Registration

Enrolling in RCC's continuing education courses is a straightforward process.

  1. Complete the Noncredit Application: This application is specifically for Extended Learning (noncredit) classes. You can find it outlined on the First-Time Students page.
  2. Registration: Registration forms and payment must be completed a week prior to the beginning of class. Some courses are available for online registration. ESL students should complete our ESL Guided Self-Placement Tool.

Parking Information

Yes, all students that park on campus must have a pass. For students parking on campus, a daily parking permit or a semester-long one is required. Be sure to park in student spaces only (yellow spaces are for staff and faculty only).

Refund Policy

For continuing education classes, a 75% tuition refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws from the class on or before the 10% point of the class. Specific course fees are not refundable unless the student officially withdraws at least 5 business days prior to the start of class. To withdraw from a continuing education, a student must complete a Withdrawal Form prior to the first day of class. Submit the form to Assistant Registrar Judy Roberts in the Lee Building, Rm.

RCC offers a variety of college and career readiness programs designed to help you succeed in school, better your job prospects and improve your life. These programs focus on essential skills and knowledge needed for academic and professional success.

  • High School Equivalency: RCC supports all students to complete their high school diploma or earn a GED. High school completion or GED programs are offered by our partner school districts.
  • English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL): These courses help non-native speakers develop their English language skills for academic, professional, and personal purposes. ESL students should complete our ESL Guided Self-Placement Tool.
  • Adult Basic Life Skills: These courses cover fundamental life skills such as financial literacy, health and wellness, and digital literacy.
  • Adult Basic Education: These courses provide foundational education in reading, writing, and mathematics for adults who want to improve their basic skills.
