Understanding Renaissance Academy Tuition Costs and Funding Options
Navigating the financial landscape of private or charter school education can be complex. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of tuition costs associated with Renaissance Academies, along with available funding options and payment terms. It covers various scenarios, from eligibility for scholarships to payment plans and potential fees.
Renaissance Academy: A Focus on Personalized Education
Renaissance Academy is a name associated with several educational institutions, each with its own unique characteristics. Renaissance Academy in California, for example, is a private high school known for its individualized development plans, flexible teaching approach, and small group instruction. Renaissance Academy Charter School in Pennsylvania is a public charter school with a mission to provide a world-class liberal arts, college-preparatory education. Understanding the specific Renaissance Academy you're interested in is crucial, as tuition structures and funding options can vary.
Tuition at Independent Renaissance Schools
As an independent school, Renaissance School does not receive funding from local, state, or federal governments and relies on tuition from enrolled families along with charitable giving from those who support our mission.
For the 2025-26 academic year, the tuition is $27,250. The Board of Directors makes every effort to keep tuition as low as feasible, and the School’s tuition has consistently been less than that of other independent high schools in the region.
Tuition Assistance
Renaissance School offers tuition assistance for families with a demonstrated financial need. Renaissance School’s efforts to be generous with assistance are balanced with its obligation to maintain financial solvency and meet operating expenses.

The primary responsibility for financing a student’s independent school experience rests with the student’s family. It is our goal that any qualified student who would make the most of the unique experience Renaissance School offers would be able to attend; and it is our reality that the funds available for tuition assistance are limited, so that we may not be able to meet all the needs of all applying families. Funds are available on a first come/first served basis and families who wish to apply for assistance should do so as soon as possible after deciding to apply. For admission during the current academic year, tuition will be pro-rated on a semi-annual basis.

Charter School Funding and Accessibility
Charter schools are independent public schools, designed by educators, parents, community leaders, educational entrepreneurs, and others who are interested in providing a quality education to children in their community. Charter schools operate outside the educational bureaucracy that too often stifles innovation in traditional public schools. They are not private schools - as public schools, charters do not charge tuition and they may not "pick and choose" their students.
Pennsylvania students are eligible to attend a charter school at no charge to their families. The students of the school district that grants the charter receive first preference. Students from outside the district can attend without cost on a space-available basis. The school district in which a student resides is responsible for charter school funding.
Lottery System
If there are more applicants than spaces available, students shall be selected by lottery. Students from outside the approving districts can attend regional charter schools without cost on a space-available basis. Charter schools may establish reasonable criteria for admission to a particular grade level or area of concentration, e.g., pre-requisites in technology, math, science, or the performing arts.
Voluntary Enrollment
Enrollment in a charter school is voluntary. If the parents are not satisfied, the student may return to his or her assigned school in their district of residence.
Funding Options for Renaissance Academy
Tuition can be no cost to you or very little cost!
Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA)
Many students can receive the Empowerment Scholarship which frequently covers all of tuition costs. A student must have been enrolled in an Arizona public school, charter school, or online public school for at least 45 days of school the previous year and have a current IEP to qualify.
Student Tuition Organizations (STOs)
If a student doesn't qualify for the ESA or doesn't receive enough funding from the ESA, there are other options. Student Tuition Organizations (STOs) are available and we can partner with many. Please consider donating to this STOs if you have an Arizona State tax liability on an ongoing basis. You could participate at no cost due to the dollar for dollar credit. You have the option to select a school when making a donation, we are on the list and easy to select.

Enrollment Information Sessions and Tours
We encourage our interested families to attend an enrollment information session to find out more about our school’s programs and offerings as this is the perfect platform to ask your questions to faculty and staff. Current Students
No, your child automatically has a space in the appropriate grade if the Intent to Return for the next school year is completed before February 4, 2022.

Open Enrollment
We continuously accept applications through the last day of the school year that you are applying for. If there are no openings in the grade level you are applying for, your child’s application will be placed on the waitlist in the date order the application was received.
Waitlist
Applications are year-specific. Applications submitted for the current school year will not be valid, rollover, or be processed in the next school year. If your child is currently on the waitlist, please submit a new application during the next school year’s Open Enrollment period.
Parents can log in to the SchoolMint Dashboard at any time to find where their child is on the waitlist.
