Reno Rodeo Foundation Scholarships: Fueling Northern Nevada's Future
Since 1986, the Reno Rodeo Foundation has been a cornerstone of support for Northern Nevada students striving for higher education. Through scholarships, the foundation empowers these students to pursue their academic and vocational aspirations within Nevada and, in specific cases, out-of-state.
A Legacy of Educational Support
For over three decades, the Reno Rodeo Foundation has been committed to helping Northern Nevada students achieve their educational goals. Hundreds of students have benefited from the foundation's scholarships, enabling them to attend universities, colleges, and trade schools. This long-standing commitment reflects the foundation's dedication to investing in the future of the region by supporting its young people.
Scholarship Opportunities
The Reno Rodeo Foundation offers scholarships to both high school graduates and current college students from Northern Nevada. To be eligible, applicants must plan to enroll in an accredited Nevada college, university, or trade/career/vocational school. A notable exception is made for students pursuing majors not offered within Nevada, who may apply for funding to attend institutions out of state.
Donor-Funded Awards
Beyond its foundation-funded scholarships, the Reno Rodeo Foundation also manages donor-funded awards. These awards offer individuals and organizations a direct avenue to positively influence the educational paths of local students, creating a meaningful connection between donors and the scholars they support.
The Western Arts & Culture Scholarship
The Reno Rodeo Foundation extends its commitment to education through the Western Arts & Culture Scholarship. This scholarship aims to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of Western arts, culture, and heritage among college-age Nevadans. It recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional potential, significant contributions, and notable skill in creative arts fields.

The selection criteria emphasize the applicant's skill level in their chosen area of arts/culture, alongside the completion of an additional addendum to the application. It's important to note that applicants are not required to have a specific major to be eligible for this scholarship.
The Western Arts & Culture Scholarship is awarded in addition to the Reno Rodeo Foundation Scholarship, based on the ranking of all scholarship applicants. This ensures that students with a passion for Western arts and culture receive additional recognition and support. Moreover, applicants not selected for the Western Arts & Culture scholarship remain in consideration for the general Reno Rodeo Foundation Scholarships, maximizing their chances of receiving financial assistance.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must have graduated from a Northern Nevada high school and maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 at the time of application.
To maintain eligibility, recipients must enroll as full-time students and uphold a 3.0 college GPA or its equivalent based on their institution's grading system. Scholarship recipients attending an out-of-state College or University, for which the degree is not offered in Nevada, must sign the Pledge & Scholarship Acceptance letter.
Additional Consideration
In addition to academic performance, the Reno Rodeo Foundation gives additional consideration to students involved in specific organizations and programs. These include:
